I've been pretty upset with Lost this season. I'm starting to feel as jerked around as Kate, Jack, and Sawyer by their captors. . .but I was suprised to see a bunch of ppl agreeing with me.
See I also want to know everything right NOW!!!! Those old questions not being answered, the fog, polar bear etc... have bothered me and I admit, I can get mad if I think about it too much. I guess I am just going with the flow.
The more I think about it, this will sound weird, in some ways I do not want to know. I am actually mad they blew the hatch up. I was always curious what would happen if you did not enter the codes. Now that I actually know, it was a let down. Maybe they are better of not explaining a lot of it. Kind of like a good book or movie, some of the best ones are where you never actually see the bad guy... 😉 The imagination is a very powerful thing and when reality hits it, it is a let down usually.
I do agree that it has been slow in responding to questions and yes I think it could move along a bit better. I guess I just look at it as 45 min a week, I watch whatever it is, and move on. 😉
If we knew everything now then there would not be much more they could do. I understand they can and have always added stuff so if the writers are good the could keep the mystery going I guess.
I am kind of torn. Okay after much though, they need to explain everything from before now but introduce all kinds of new things. There, I made up my mind 😉
I want to know ONE thing. I REALLY want to know why the 'Others' feel justified in behaving how they do, and what their motivation is.
They've killed 'Losties', spied on them, and 3 of their own have died because of what they are doing. Good storytelling provides motive for characters, and dispite the obvious intelligence of the 'Others', we watch SEASONS go by, people killed because of their actions, and STILL we don't have a clue why. Why do they TEST people, why do they label certain ppl 'good'? What the hell are they doing on an otherwise deserted island? I'm beginning to feel as tortured as the 'Losties'. It's an interesting storytelling technique, to torture your viewing audience, but one that should not be overdone.
I can wait on the many, MANY questions the show poses, but I need some motivation for the 'Others' - SOON.
I hope they have a plan, and aren't making this up as they go.
Its simple. The others are just a collection of KGB agents abandoned on the island to study aliens and perfect thier assimilation tecnics to become sleepers in the US, so they can someday bring great glory to Mother Russia when they destroy all the capitalist pigs.

As for the question above. I hope they have this all planned out and not making it up as they go. It's a little of both. Yes they have the whole thing planned out and the show does have an ending. But issues along the way do cause them to make last minute changes to the storyline as long as it does not interfere with the ending.
How many of you think the "vision" of Locke's was a vision into the future after the island? Granted it does not make sense that Ben is a security checker. You know Desmond has visions into the future after the hatch implosion.

To be totally honest man, I do not think they have anything worked out until the end. I really think they have some overall ideas on one or two specific things that will happen when the show is done but are doing ALL the filler as they go from week to week. Well to be fair probably many many weeks ahead of time.
I think I remember when it started, the writers admitted to this though it could have been rumor of course. The rumor was the fact they did not think the show would take of and when it did they scrambled to write stuff for it. 😉
ahh.. the beauty of patience and the cost of blockbuster online... to rent the season in its entirety so none of that waiting each week for the episodes.. the only show I do watch has a minimal carrying plot and is named HOUSE..

A lot of us here are huge HOUSE fans. I would not really put that show in the same category though. It is just a comedy-drama. The story line is more episode to episode. They refer to a few things in his personal life but overall it is not an unfolding drama like LOST or Heroes.
Another show I have been watching that is actually more interesting that I thought it would be is "The Nine".
You guys also have to catch Dexter on Showtime. It is kind of creepy. It is about a guy named Dexter that early on in his life had something happen to him, unrevealed yet. He grows up with a huge urge to kill. Thankfully he had a guiding step farther that understood him and directs his instinct to kill on people that deserver to be killed instead of innocents. So he goes after "bad" Serial killers and people that have killed others with little remorse, like multiple DUI offenders.
His job is working for the Miami Police department in the CSI unit specializing in blood spatter analysis. He has no real feelings of his own and it is fun to see him act like he does to fit in. It is just a creepy character really.
I read about that show. I wanted to see it, but no Showtime. I'll do the DVD thing when it comes out. I watched Dead Like Me this way.
I've been watching Jericho. It's also very much a strung along show that keeps you wondering and guessing. I like it so far.

Now Heroes is a recent addiction of mine, gotta love the free show on the net if you miss any part... hopefully that is a sign they will slow off on showing reruns.. as to Houses show by show plot.. -points at saying minimal carrying plot-

This guy hits the nail on the head for Lost and any other show like it. One of my favorite shows of all time, Pretender suffered the same problem and they never did a finale for that show so the central mystery was never solved.
I've advocated for the very thing that this guy is talking about for years. It's one of the great things about 24 is that you know that the mystery will be solved by the end of the season. No waiting six months only to have it canceled.

OH man do NOT get me started on The Pretender. I was really into that show, it was great! Yes they really did leave is hanging. I heard awhile back they were going to actually make yet another movie the purpose was to answer all the questions. Nothing so far so that looks like a dead project.
Now they did make two two movies, the last being one called The Pretender: Island of the Haunted
Tv.com says Jarod and Miss Parker find themselves trapped together on a strange island in a life and death situation, out of which come some of the most important revelations about their pasts.
My suspicion was always that Jarod and Mrs parker were siblings. I never saw this movie but I always wonder about this.
Anyway since I did not see either movie, I am unsure what actually did get answered.

She was smoking in more than one way for sure!
They did turn out to be siblings in the "Island of the Haunted" movie. I think Jared also met his mother there briefly. All I can really remember is that Jared, Ms. Parker and all the bad(?) guys were on a plane at the end and there was a crash. I'll have to ask my wife what she remembers as that was one of her favorite shows as well.
If I recall correctly however, it did not answer all of the mysteries as they were hoping to get another movie out of it 🙁
