    Anyone use this browser.
just picked it up for the first time.
I like the old Netscape feel.

I have been an avid Mozilla user for years... Firefox is a great browser and should be used by everyone... If they want a full suite [email, irc, newgroups, composer] then they should be using the full Mozilla client...

If they are using IE... Well, they get what they deserve...

Firefox is great! I am using it right now.

I heard a rumor that Google is going to release their GBrowser using Mozilla/Firefox as the base. Finally, IE will get some real competition. Now maybe Google will make the Googlebar work with Mozilla.

Yeah Firefox rocks. I am having some issues getting pr 1.0 to work on a new fedora box though
  5. #5
the only bad things i have to say about firefox is that some sites won't work with firefox which is gay if u ask me
  6. #6
Yeah... Several sites I use, the plugins wont work properly and don't seem to install easily into firefox or won't install at all. It also crashes alot more than IE for me. (Not defending IE) That and the program looks like ass, I mean it's like running netscape 1.3 on Win 3.1 again. I just cant get into it. The times I've used it it's been less stable and less functional than Slimbrowser which I use now.

Typically, the reason a plugin won't work involves Active X, which is the whole reason IE is unsecure in the first place.
  8. #8
    Well... functionality vs security...

I'll go with function 1st. I still haven't gotten any viruses, etc. I just keep shit updated and dont do dumb crap like open attachments

breaky u can get files to class up ur browser and u can also get any attatchment u want for it just click tools then extensions and believe me u can find anything
  10. #10
thats what everyone tells me, when I do stuff like that tho it starts crappin out on me or doesnt work right.

Might just be user error tho.

Firefox 1.0 is out. Haven't really noticed much of a change from .92, but then again have only been using it for a few hours now.

I did find a neat extension called BBCode that makes formatting text in forum posts easier, including 😀 I usually use the quick reply space at the bottom of the thread so this helps.

Color was tough though as you need to know the code for the particular color you want I got that color using the font colour button in the "post a reply" area instead.
  13. #14
Hello green This is SSOOooooooo much easer than trying to change color using the forum button....

  14. #15
Now let's see if it crashes on me in about 3 weeks like all the previous incarnations.

Ahh, I didn't notice that before - thanks.
  18. #20
Yeah I seen that, pretty funny

    Big FireFox fan here.
Only problem I have with it is that they (or no one) has created a spell checker plug in, due to me S*cking at spelling.

I tend to rely on IE (GACK!) for the IESpell plug in which I rely to much on when I spend time on the boards.

    AK

That's a damn good idea! Where is the spell check plugin?

In all honesty, if I'm posting news to the site, I try to copy and paste it into word before posting, but if I had a spell check plugin, I would be exstatic!

Still, spell check vs. IE hijack, I'll misspell a few words. :-)
  21. #23
Too bad the bbcode extension doesn't work with 1.0
  22. #24
Scratch that. I found the update.
  23. #25
    You beat me to it....
    Still no spell check though..
  24. #26
Yeah, the closest thing i found was dictionary search, but that doesn't help much.
  25. #27
found an extension called "spellbound", but haven't been able to get it to work yet.
  26. #28
I myself use Mozilla Firefox and i am using it right now and i would recommend it to ANYONE WHO IS ANYONE AT ALL i mean it is fabulous + no annoying popups AT ALL!!!!!!! or toolbars that install themselves *cough*IE6*cough* i would reccomend staying with it and learn how to use it to the max limit!
  27. #29
I think we have made a few Firefox converts here.... :-)
  28. #30
nod, I converted a few months ago...and to show the staying power of Firefox, you notice this thread keeps coming back to life? 🙂
  29. #31
Yeah since the start of this thread I haven't gone back and have got at least one friend that changed as well!
  30. #32
ARGH! Be glad when IE7 come out with tabs. That's the only reason i use firefox. THe dang blasted thing since 1.0.4 has been buggier than a rotten apple on a hot day. They were doing good after the 1.0.1 version thru x.3. I have had more problems than i can count. Downloads croak after so many minutes, webpages with pics only open the pics half way. I'm finding myself more and more everyday moving back to IE.

btw this is on more than one machine that I have this problem. Some of these things happen to me a work as well.
  31. #33
That suck I don't see any problems except fpr after reboot load time is up.
    Maybe a plugin?
  32. #34
    no plugins installed.
  33. #35
    That sucks!
  34. #36
    FYI 1.5 is much better.
  35. #37
    nice extensions out too!
One of my favorites is no script!
