They estimate by 2020 they'll be using this: 200 nautical mile range, same destructive power as a tomahawk missile, $1,000 a shot vs $1 million for the tomahawk, hits the target in six minutes vs eight for the missile, and takes much less time to set up and fire. . .not to mention no need for explosive gunpowder or fuel, a danger in use and if the magazine takes a hit.
The big guns on the old Iowa class battleships only fired 23 nautical miles, by way of comparison.
