Net Neutrality and the New Congress

    I found this article quite interesting. It seems the more things change, the more they stay the same. Looks like the Dem's are going down the same path the Republican's did previously.

    Here is the part I found most ironic. If anything, it really speaks to the sad state of government and how little the will of people actually means.

    No doubt, there are Net issues beyond copyright — surveillance, net neutrality, etc. But I suggest this choice is an important signal about this party (and I’m afraid, any party). I once asked a senior staffer of a brilliant Senator why the Senator didn’t take a stronger position in favor of Net Neutrality. “No Senator remains a Senator opposing an industry with that much money” was his answer.

    It's a very sad state of affairs. However, with enough pressure from the little people, your average congress person will listen.

    Yes, then promptly ignore the issue. They won't take a stand just as Atomm's quote said.

    I have some quotes of mine that I write down into my PDA as I think of them. One is :

    "Persons in positions of power will always be about that and money. Nothing, including the truth, will come between them and those objectives."

    Senator Santorum stood up, took a stand and spoke the truth about what was REALLY going on. I learned to like the guy even more the more I listened to what he had to say. Of course he did not get re-elected because the "people" are basically idiots in most politicians eyes and are treated as so.

    Now I do agree with Sarge to a point that with a LOT of pressure things can actually get done. The problem is the liberal media, the main source of creating that pressure, more often than not, never reports on the things that need attention. Mainly due to the PC ways of this country. "Sorry we cannot report on that as it may offend someone."

    How about reporting the good things? How about some positive? Nope sorry that is not interesting to us. Okay how about this serious issues? "Nope, sorry, that would offend voters or people that will buy our papers".

    The liberally biased media is a myth. The media is merely a mirror - they give us what "we" want. Of course how what we want is defined and who they listen to in defining it, is another question entirely.

    Look at what the Top stories are for Fox and CNN at this moment. This isn't intended to be a slight against either website, but how many of these are truly important?

    It doesn't matter whether they are Democrat, Republican, etc. There are only politicians.

    I could argue this one man. NYT reporting things they should not, not reporting things they should.
    If you really want me to I can cite many examples of how they are totally unfair in many ways against conservatives and Bush in general etc...

    We will agree to dis-agree here then. It is not worth the back and forth man. 😉
