Offered A Job At AIG, Should I Take It?

It's a 3 month contract position in Wilmington, DE. You know, the location that received all the death threats for large bonuses!

I wonder..... I guess it never hurts to ask for a 1 Million Dollar sign on bonus prior to reporting to work...... 😈

Is this a serious question? Is your current contract in Dallas up, and you're looking for work?

I wouldn't move my family to Delaware. . .well, I was going to say I wouldn't move my family to Delaware for that job, but I think the added qualifier is unnecessary 😀

Dude why all the Delaware hate? Is it just cause I live in Delaware? I grew up in Wilmington and its not that bad of a city. We are literally the hub of like 5 major cities, its an awesome place to be.

As an aside The AIG building is pretty sweet looking and its right next to a kick ass bar.

Does the bar sell bacon?

I just got a kick out of the out of the blue offer for an interview for this position. These are the guys that everyone was hating on because they received millions in retention bonuses. I have nothing against them personally, but a person would have to be desperate to go to work for AIG in todays environment.

I have been hounded by a recruiter for a CC company to come interview with them. For kicks, I checked their website and read this.

{Name Removed} is the leader in integrated retail credit programs. We know that if you put the right card into the right customer's hands, and communicate with them in the right way at the right time, they'll buy more.

I hate CC companies. When I was layed off, the CC companies raked me over the coals. It was the worst experience of my life. I paid every single one off and closed the accounts. I'll never allow them to do that to me again and I sure as hell wouldn't work for them.

The sad part is the job looks interesting, but who would jump ship for a Credit Company in this economy?

I just find a lot of these recruiter emails funny. I guess it's me being Jaded. Paladin would understand.... 😈

It's not so much hate as it is blithe dismissal. When I think of Delaware, and I don't, I usually can't remember it's a state. Does Delaware get representation at the national level? Does everyone in the state get a turn at it? They ought to squeeze Delaware into Jersey or Maryland and make one good one - go with Maryland if you get a choice 😉


On the other hand, I'm willing to reconsider my seemingly random, unnecessary Delaware bigotry. . .IF they have at least one good bar, as you say they do.

You all forget the proud history Delaware has in this country. Not only are we the First State, if it hadn't been for Delaware's contribution in the revolution we wouldn't even be a country!

And yes we have quite a few good bars. Oh and considering that the British Delaware colony was founded by William Penn, before he founded PA...shouldn't we just take PA over?

Ever go walking in a swamp... you get home take off your boots and your socks are brown, and muddy and stank and they are soaking wet. So you take the socks off and start wringing them out and an unnatural amount of water comes out, so you stop wringing them, find a bucket so you can measure the amount of water out of each sock. You proceed to wring the sock into the bucket, the sock water is a nasty yellow brown... that is Delaware beer.

We got Iron Hill Brewery which is a local secret, they dont ship it anywhere. Its only served in their restaurants. We also have dogfish head which is a pretty well known beer, at least on the East Coast. We also have a new place that just opened up, but I haven't tried their wares yet.

Dogfish Head IPAs are excellent.
