OK State Question up for Vote (No. 712)

    Hey gang,

    This is mainly for those of us who currently live in Oklahoma. On the November Ballot, among other items, is State Question 712. As most of you know, I left a long career at America Online to join a company called Sierra Design Group, who manufactures, installs, and maintains casino slot machines across the country. Currently, the current Oklahoma market is held by Indian Casinos, and is limited in the type of games allowed. The current games are limited to "bingo (or Class 2)" type gaming, meaning the machines are dependant on an electronic bingo game to determine a win, and the slots are just a graphical representation. Many other companies are using "Lotto" based games, where the outcome is based on lottery numbers rather than bingo, and these games are currently illegal, but popular among some casinos due to lax regulations.
    SQ 712 will allow many more types of games to legally enter the state (such as various video poker games) as well as put regulation in place to protect the player and casino alike. The market will open to racetracks, allowing slot machines to be present for your enjoyment should the pony not come in (grin). Also, the casinos will be regulated and taxed appropriately, with money going to help education in OK, which I believe ranks 44 out of 50 states.     Job is going well and I'm making bookoos money, but i'm pulling a hell of a lot of hours, and its biting into my gaming time. The only time lately I've had time to game was while I was in Alabama, and then I only had a marginal laptop. I wonder if the company will let me expense a new laptop, I know Alienware has some WONDERFUL business <cough> computers.....LOL

    OK, i'm hollering!! 🙂 I'm expecting to go back to alabama soon for an expansion, so the info may make my stay a little more enjoyable. Company INSISTS we get hotels with internet access (darn) so i'll be ready to rock.

    I have no problem with voting YES for that. The better half's son and future wife train racing horses so the more money remington park has the less we have to dish out to them. 🙂

    Rumor has it each track could get around 600 machines total from various vendors, and will show the best at remington as the indian casinos are on tribal lands. Remington is in OKC in a populated area, and could bring in a SLEW of money for remington. Imagine being at Tinsletown for a movie, then run across the street for a little slots.

    Thanks. 🙂 I'm more concerned with it passing to level the playing field. My company (owned by Bally's) is the only one playing 100% legit games and its hurting us. If this passes and the true regulatory body is created, our kick ass games get a chance hehehe

    Hmmm....I "hear" Firelake Casino in Shawnee may hold fortune, but you know I wouldnt know, so you'd have to trust the rumor mill. 😉

    Hmm Thackerville I cant say much on there because even tho my company has machines there, i havent step foot in the place.
