Politicians Lie!

On the way home yesterday, I heard a story on the radio that a study shows Congress tells the truth approxiamately 25% of the time when they have the floor. The rest is a bunch of crap they spout to back their agenda or position. Or the position or agenda of the companies paying for their support.

Now, I am not a huge fan of GWB. However, think about this for a minute. If we held Congress to the same scrutiny that we hold the office of the President, don't you think everyone would be up in arms over this?

Isn't the whole point of debate to seek the truth on an issue. To use logic and reason to come to a conclusion that is good for the country, rather than a select few individuals? How can we do that based on 75% of the information being lies?

I really think it's time to make a change. And I'm not talking about swinging Congress from Republican to Democrat. I'm talking about swinging the Congress from a corrupt group of people catering to money back to a group of people doing what's best for this country.

It's time to shake up the old guard. Given the way the Internet works, I imagine our generation has more power than we realize. It's time for a change. No matter what, vote in your Primaries. Get rid of the old guard and let's bring in fresh blood and ask them to do what's best for America.

I will try not to get into political or religious discussions on the board here.
It causes too much stress between people because most people can not be open minded to new ideas and discussions.

They are set in there limited views and refuse to bend thus causing grief.

True and not true. As a resident of said state, I have talked to people who would like to see the FS group come here. However, anyone from outside who comes in and tries to take over - no matter what political persuation - is going to meet tremendous opposition from the locals. Especially in the smaller towns.

Our previous Governor ran as a republican but was really a libertarian (not that they and the FS group are the same thing precisely, but close), he was also incredibly narrow-minded and self-serving. He attempted to dismantle the State Government and acheived that partially but succeeded in alienating just about everyone in the State in the process - conservatives and liberals both because he did not understand the difference between the function of government and a business. He was also a total and complete asshole as a person so that didn't help him either 😀

I also saw this the other day as well. I don't know anything about the guy that wrote it, but he brings up some good points as to the truth behind some aspects of the "war on terror" based on analysis of a report released by the Department of Justice. Not earthshattering, but interesting none-the-less imo.

Problem (or plus..) for the FS group, is if they do achieve their 20,000 they want o take as many and as high of office in N.H. as possible.

Once in the barn, it will be hard to keep them form repealing, changing or modifying the present system.

Part of me thinks that's one hell of a good idea. But not so much as to actually join them (at this time....)

I don't know that they will be able to concentrate enough to do much locally. What town in NH could handle an influx of more than a few families at any given time? There just isn't enough building going on and with the cost of real estate here it will be even more difficult. Something that might cost them 150k in the mid-west will cost them 300k or more here unless they go to the small towns in the north.

Have they made much of a difference in Idaho?

I agree that there needs to be a shake up in the power structure from the State to the Federal level - every now and then the party in charge needs to get it's ass handed to it in an election because that's when things get done. This year looks like it is going to be especially brutal for incumbents all around, but then I thought that in 04 as well 😄 .

About three years back is when they made the decision on the state. At the time they had it down to N.H., ID. WY and I think S.D.

Once they chose N.H. they never looked back so there are none of them here. Or - there may be some here but because they decision is for N.H. they are just here because they are not there yet.

the FS seemed interesting for about 10 seconds then I just didn't care. Usually I stay out of political type threads because I don't care for them, don't care about them, and don't vote so I don't have a right to bitch one way or another.

With that being said, who wants to join my cult? We can all pitch in buy a decommissioned missile silo - call it a 501c3 religion and get grant funding to pay for the internet, property taxes and batteries. Farm our goods and hunt our food, this could work - really it could.

Down the Godess part is starting to make a lot of sense.....

Ever want an interesting read about how a politician becomes corrupt... William Weld (former Gov of Mass, a republican who was voted to gov in Mass) wrote a fictional account of a senator who goes to washington. The senator has dreams of grandeur and being the non-corrupt senator, then he finds how it works. It's called the "Big Ugly". Not the best book I ever read, but I did gleam just how things work to some extent. I don't know that it's an accurate account, but if anyone knows he would (he used to federal prosecutor for corrupt politicians).
