Bubba, how are you with under water salvage? I see a lot of money in our future if you can do this kind of stuff. ;-)

Thanks for sharing Bubba. It was really cool. I loved all the pictures too.

Sadly, this LiDAR technology at this point is not applicable for underwater (the water scatters the laser). Currently in development is green laser LiDAR that can do bathymetry work (so its coming soon).

I never realized how much underwater junk there is until recently. I will attach an illustration on my next post.

So, this map is a quick and dirty of Bathymetry in the Gulf of Maine (Portland, ME to Gloucester, MA). The little red symbols all over the map are known ship wrecks. The other symbols on the map are: Unexploded ordinance (both areas and points), Hazard areas, and ocean disposal sites.

I was shocked at how much there is in this small geographic extent.

In a slightly unrelated addition to the thread.

Blind mans bluff - Untold stories of American Submarine espionage
    http://www.amazon.com/Blind-Mans-Bluff-Sub...e/dp/006097771X

A U.S. sub commander was tasked with figuring out how to tap in to Soviet under sea communications cables, and it has been frustrating them for years on how to find it.

One day the commander was on a beach in Groton CT. and there was this HUGE billboard from AT&T on the shore.... NO SWIMMING - underground cable!

he thought.... nooooo too easy ... could the Russians do the same damn thing?
The next time he was in the Cola peninsula... sure enough.
It almost said. No boating. Secret underground cable here.

We put a tap on it the very same year that lasted 12 years before the Russians found it.

(see it was related... ocean, New England, water - shut up)

Watched the Berlin video, nothing like I remember it. Most of the time Sarge was in the 2nd story window of the building on the tunnel on the back side of the flag point to lay down cover while Atomm and I scooped the flag and ran. I don't think they mention the amazing flag skill of GRB anywhere in the video!

Not to mention we always Xpacked the hell out of our flag! Again not mentioned!
