Wow, this is crazy. Universal studio's is trying to crush Redbox. In case you are not familiar with Redbox, it's a Kiosk that rents DVD's for $1 a day and sells used movies for $7. Apparently, it's been a huge success and cut into Universal's DVD sales.
In negotiations, they have demanded 40% of Redbox's gross revenue. Can you believe that? Redbox is partially owned by a subsidiary of McDonalds. Let's hope they have as much access to good lawyers as Universal.
And let's hope they can win. If they do, it's possible that Universal would loose all copyrights.
