This is really cool because it is a lawsuit filed by someone who was harrassed by the RIAA and is actually moving forward with bringing them up on RICO (racketeering) charges. If this keeps moving forward, the goal is to uncover all the details between the RIAA and Mediasentry, the company they hired to track down file sharers.

I really hope the RIAA doesn't try to settle this with a large sum of money. We need this to go through to put a stop to this crap once and for all.

Yeah but for them to pull out 1Mil or so will be easy and more than enough for a settlement

The only way for the RIAA to win in this instance is to take it to court and disprove it. If they settle, it will send "We're Guilty but we don't want you to know how guilty we are" signals to everyone.

Except for Michael Jackson, a settlement has almost never had the perception of "I am guilty" to americans for some reason. Though I guess it would make everyone who the RIAA goes after respond with a lawsuit and the presedence of this case.
