Well, I heard about a new peoplefinder/social website opening up called "Spock". I signed up to get an e-mail when they were handing out invites, and today, I got one.
The 2nd step in the sign-up process was to give them your e-mail name and address at one of the listed e-mail providers that has a built-in contact list. The purpose is for them to go in and scoop out all of your contacts, thus accumulating more info on ppl you know. 😱

No way in hell am I handing out my email password, and furthermore, I'm not letting 'em data-mine my contacts and e-mail. I thought about making a dummy acct with no info and reapply, but I figure, "Screw 'em."
