Do any of you know anything about Springfield Virginia? Is it a Burb of DC?

I applied for a job there with my company. Am I going to be totally screwed income wise?

There is a lot of extra incintives involved with taking the job, but I'm not sure they will offset the Cost of Living and Quality of Life... Ok, maybe the Cost of Living because the Quality of Life in Oklahoma Sucks!

I have no idea if I can even get the job, but I did apply and our employment site says I am still under consideration.....

At 14 miles from DC it is likely a Suburb. That's right in Ephils neighborhood now, he might have a better idea what it is like there.

These are the numbers I would look at.

Median household income: $69,640 (year 2000)
Median house value: $185,700 (year 2000)

Keep in mind that those values are 5 years old now and have likely changed. Did a quick search and didn't find anything listed for housing for less than $299k - you will likely want to look further south or west, and certainly further from DC.

Also looked at the population and when they moved to Springfield. about 25% moved to the town between 1999-2000 (right before the census) and that points to a rapidly growning suburb. in fact current population is over 100,000 (wow!!!!).

Yea, I went to realtor.com and did some searching myself. I can't see any way we can afford to move out there. We would have to rent and loosing our Mortgage Interest would hurt our taxes way to much.

I just can't imagine how we could buy a house out there. The other problem is I don't want a 2 hour commute both ways.

    Oh well......
