This guy was Pittsburgh sports when I was growing up. This guy was PITTSBURGH. Much beloved. I guess the best parallel I might draw for those who don't know him would be Harry Carey & Chicago, only Myron was around much longer. I used to listen to his call-in sports show, and turn down the TV volume so that I could listen to Myron call the game on the radio.

Yeah, I really think he did. He loved sports, and he covered sports in Pittsburgh for decades. You could do worse than that. Beyond that, Pittsburgh loved him.

We should all be so lucky.

I have to admit for most of his career he annoyed the hell out of me. For the longest time that voice of his could send me running for an exit. I thought he was trying to rip off Howard Cosel <sp>.

What I did like about Cope is that he never gave up and was tireless at work. Incredible amount of energy and he was always working, even after his wife died and he was ill for years. Hell he was still making colour comments from his nursing home.

Small time guy that made a big town difference.

I am shocked I had never heard fo him b4. Always hurts to lose the voice of a cities sports
