Actually Sarge... I don't know that they will.... I think they will continue to do things their way, while someone else comes along and usurps them. Then it won't matter because they won't matter.

There is no future in which bits will get harder to copy. Instead of spending billions on technologies that attack paying customers, the studios should be confronting that reality and figuring out how to make a living in a world where copying will get easier and easier. They're like blacksmiths meeting to figure out how to protect the horseshoe racket by sabotaging railroads.

The railroad is coming. The tracks have been laid right through the studio gates. It's time to get out of the horseshoe business.

I already knew about this but to take a step back here, I am unsure I even care. What I mean is I have no real desire for HD content because I am not convinced it is that much better than a standard DVD to begin with.

I have read various things from people stating that some do seem really nice but a lot of them is really not THAT much better in quality. How they master it etc.. all comes into play.

Also what is considered Hi-Def is really not. They really should have made the Hi-Def specs something like 4096 etc... 1080 is nice but just above XGA on a computer. There really is no WOW factor here. Unlike VHS tapes to DVD. Sure it is double than a DVD at 720P but does it look it?

Even the very best HD discs are, I am guessing, about 50% better than a standard DVD at best and probably only look 20% or so better normally. This may help marginally with people like me with larger screens but on anything under a 50" I think it would be about the same because, as I said, 1080 just is not that much.

I agree with you Paladin. This is just another way for the movie industry to sell the same stuff over and over without any real benefit to the user.

My concern is the way they are doing it. I think it stinks....
