#2 Hey, is that Oswald? A friend of my wife's at work's husband was, uh, secrect stuff. Anyone, Jodi met his best friend who happens to be one of the guys with Oswald when Ruby shot him. Kind of crazy......
I love the Star Wars picture. That is truly awesome!
I have nothing good to contribute, sorry..... -

#4 Atomm, yeah, that's Oswald. Your wife's friend's husband was Oswald's SECRET STUFF? I didn't know Oswald swung that way. 🙂

BTW, that Sig is Awesome! -
#17 Well, that's why I refrained from that pic until now, to keep it clean. Split the thread, and see if Lexx has any more. . . 🙂
The sig, really? Not the avatar? Obviously, I agree, but I'm surprised to get any feedback on it. You never did post back about the game you went to.
EDIT:
Doh! I guess you're speaking of Silent Cold's Sig. I liked the "Still. Chill." part. Synonyms for "Silent" and "Cold", and has the rhyming thing going on. -

There was nothing wrong with the pic I posted. It was on page one of my.yahoo.com's news. Description said it was a whole group of models to open a new brand.

The scientist pic is pretty awesome.
Unfortunately 'I' remember firsthand. I had to take care of a whole herd when I was 15. Hated those @$#@ cows. Only fun was to drown the cats with milk 🙂 Heh, the owner's son I worked with that season killed one of them with a baseball bat cause it wouldn't come in the barn to be milked. That was funny as hell. -

#47 I can't imagine he was ticked for speeding. Must be one of those, Sir, do you realize there is a large metal pole sticking out of your roof, stops. -
#48 Some gfx stuff I've been up to:
A couple of sigs I made for someone. . .with the usual scavenged and borrowed source material.
And my recent attempt to create a logo for the Dual Clan. . .unlike the sigs, this one is pretty much all my work, using various Photoshop tricks.
I wanted something simple and iconic. Lexx wanted something to strike fear into opponents. I ended up with a red/blue yin-yang in a circular saw blade, along with the blade-guard. The red & blue are Unreal Tournament's most common colors in the screenshots I looked at (besides black), and the odd tangs at the end of the blade guard are 'knives' from the UT3 logo. . .a nod to DC's UT history and involvement. When I found I could shade the red & blue a bit and create the initials of the clan from the existing image, I knew I had a keeper. It ended up with kind of a Flash Gordon/Art Deco feel, I think.
I've long considered the GRB skull to be an absolutely kick-ass logo. Fairly simple, but bad-ass, with the clan initials right on it in that squiggly way that reminded me of skull sutures. I found it to be inspirational in making this.
Lexx has added to this, so I hope he'll drop in and show off the finished version. Oops, I just remembered something he wanted me to add! Oh well, off I go. . . -
#49 Doc,
The logo looks great. I almost missed the DC shadows at first. Is there any way to make it stand out without taking away from the image? -
#50 very nice work! -
#51 Atomm wrote:Doc,

Good question. Yeah, it's all in different layers in a PSD file. You could outline the shaded letters, you could change the transparency to make 'em lighter and darker(I think the DC letters are around 20-25% transparency in this pic). . . I just prefer the subtle effect, especially since the words "Dual Clan" are right on the blade guard. . .with that, the logo can afford a little subtlety elsewhere. Gives you an 'aha!" moment. Something to discover, sort of like the hidden arrow in the FedEx logo.
Lexx is working his own magic on it for the web-page gfx. I think I'm about done working on it myself. . .I'm to the point where I feel adding more takes away from the simple, basic design.
Here it is without the sawblade & guard. I darkened the DC letters a bit more. I figured this version might work well for very small gfx uses, where the blade guard and sawteeth might be too small to look good.
I'm glad you guys like it. When you draw stuff, YOU may like it, but you never can be sure whether others will see it the same way. -

#55 Yah, nice work Doc. I may have force fed him objectives here and there, but all the elements were created by Doc, I just rearranged them according to my twisted way of thinking.
I wanted gold or chrome letters in the center, but Doc said no, so ok 🙂 Here is my favorite two finished versions. I was trying to get away from a circle, otherwise it holds my UT history well and I salute him for respecting that point :thumbs up: -

I'm sure we've discussed all this before, and you've read all the links, but what the hell. . .
I've found I get a bit dizzy playing games at different refresh rates. Frame rates might make a difference too. Are you using an LCD monitor now?
You might try sitting back from the monitor, so that you can see the monitor frame, and give yourself a better visual cue that you're not actually moving. The sickness you get is probably related to motion sickness. I used to get sick sometimes if I tried to read in the car. . .the difference between what your inner ear is telling you and your eyes are telling you is probably the issue.
Some newer conversations/articles about it.
A lot of tips and conversation about it here.

It's probably all the same old stuff, but there's a few specific references to COD4 in there. All you can really do is tweak your game/monitor settings, sit back from the monitor some, and take Dramamine/eat ginger. -

What KIND of hose is that?
A James Bond-007 cake, but kind of brings to mind something else for me. Something not suitable for cake.

Oh god, it gets worse. . .it feels like cannibalism now.
At least it can't get worse. . .wait, what?
Hiro was tired of never getting a slice of cake at work functions, so when it was his turn to buy one, he hatched a cunning plan. . .
Do these occasions really warrant cake?

Divorce cake?

#144 My sister's taking on-line classes to get her teaching degree. That's not really relevant, except it explains why she's getting textbooks in the mail. She has 'em delivered here, since she's not home all day. Well, she dropped by to pick 'em up today, and we took a look inside. It looks like the company is making some extra money by including advertising materials in the books they sell. Inside her "English as a Second Language" (for teaching immigrants, wisenheimers, she speaks English!) book was this mousepad.
It was a used book, so I'm pretty sure it was put in by the company selling the books, and not the publisher. It was in a cellophane bag, and was lightly glued into the cover of the book, with that gummy glue that comes off easily.
I found all that odd enough, but I was struck immediately by it's close resemblance to Che Guevara.
I don't think this really qualifies as AWESOME, but it's our picture thread, and I wasn't going to start a "Mildly interesting picture thread", so there you go. I hope you've enjoyed this two minute break in your day. 🙂

And I think you're reading that wrong. It's, "Mr. Brains 4 Pork Faggots", not that it'll help you all that much. I'm pretty sure it's from Great Britain, if that helps any. . . BTW, how come no one ever calls "Great Britain" on their ego? I mean, did we call ourselves, "The United States of Awesome?" Seriously, someone needs a trip to the "Total Perspective Vortex." -

He was replacing an air conditioner. I'll have to see if I can dig up the picture again, as I think Photobucket resized that one.
It starts out showing the guys in the window with 2 L-brackets bolted to the wall. They sit the AC on the brackets, then he climbs out on top of the AC to bolt the AC to the L-brackets. . .so he's like 10-stories up, laying across an AC unit that is sitting, unsecured, on 2 L-brackets that are bolted to the wall. Darwin must be spinning in his grave that he got away with it. -

I wonder if "the shocker' will get more media attention than ever before because of this, or if this picture will just get swept under the rug, as no one will know how to properly report on it without offending half the population of the US.
As the ppl on Fark put it: "Two in the house, one in the senate"

SOMEWHERE, there is a large version of the White House pic, and I shall have it. Oh yes, I shall have it. The beautiful sigs I will make. . . -

Late to the party, but I HAD to dig this up. Hey, I made it, I'm using it at every opportunity, and opportunities are RARE with this one. 😀

I dunno. Duck had that problem too, but he fixed it. Maybe he could help you, but I think he's taking another break.
Do you have anything running that might block my picture host (Tinypic.com)?
Anyone else have that problem? -
#246 Doc you should be able to upload the pics. though I do not have an issue seeing your pics -
#247 Bubbaspanky wrote:Doc you should be able to upload the pics. though I do not have an issue seeing your pics
I try not to, so that I don't eat up all Atomm's storage. Also, by hosting it, I thought I saved on his bandwidth costs. The pics eat up a lot of bandwidth and space, when compared to a handful of posts every day. -
#248 I think I fixt it. -
#249 MooseDog wrote:I think I fixt it.
Can you elaborate, since you're the 2nd person to have this happen, and neither said how they fixed it? -

Yeah, my DNS service was blocking tinypic.com. So I whitelisted it. Fixt. I use opendns fyi. -

I thought it might be something like that. Thanks. How do you like OpenDNS? I was thinking about trying it. -
#254 Ya know... I like it pretty well. It's easy to use, it's free, and it's pretty stable. Support is actually pretty good too. One nice thing is that if you sign up, you get a dashboard and can customize your dns, like a filter. It'll track stats and stuff too. -

Moose, and Duck. No, not a new Inuit-Asian dish, but the names of the TWO (2, dos, zwei) ppl who have had that problem.
