Given the current state of the economy, I thought this was amazingly interesting, especially give the fact that it was written in the 40's, yet at no point has our government gotten the message.
...the whole of economics can be reduced to a single lesson, and that lesson can be reduced to a single sentence.
The art of economics consists in looking not merely at the immediate but at the longer effects of any act or policy; it consists in tracing the consequences of that policy not merely for one group but for all groups.
This is why I am against the bailout. It's trying to solve today at the expense of tomorrow. We didn't fix any problems. We just made them last a lot longer than they would have otherwise.
From the follow up nearly 30 years later (late 70's)
Whenever there is any slowdown in business, the politicians now see the main cause as âinsufficient consumer spending.
WoW! How prophetic..... Have we still not learned our lesson?
If you ready anything, please read the first part from the 40's

and the last part from the late 70's.

It's amazing how much sense it makes and how little our government actually gets it.

If this doesn't open your eyes to the problems our economy faces, you can't be helped. 😛
