the joys of a home made pc

So i had val here during this little tale , where my pc started to get sluggish , i then thought ok maybe it needs a restart. whoops restarting was a bad idea as when i restarted windows decided it didnt want its registry anymore and another key file to startup. so ok i go shit , i need a new windows dvd , so i go over to best buy because im too impatient for amazon and i got my best buy charge card , pay 204 bucks for a new copy of vista , ofcourse they didnt sell xp but anyways. so i go home and install windows , a few days in putting everything onto windows, it starts getting sluggish agn , so , i say ok lets try restarting and find out if it does the same thing , sure enough it happend agn just a different starting file , after system restoring one last time to just do the same thing i used some diagnostic tools to stress my hd and sure enough it fails every stress test , and after testing it , doesnt work no more. now i ended up stealing my mothers comp she lives accross the street , and now im shopping for a new hd. Aint homemade systems the best?? :-p

You know, I work on networking all day. I spend all my time on computers. I use to enjoy building them myself, but any more, I just want them to work. I ran XP with constant blue screens for a year because I didn't want to take the time to reload everything.

how the hell didnt u go mad after a year of bluescreens?? i wouldve kicked the panel in! :-p

And yeah, I think home-built systems ARE the best. I build my own, and I know what I put in it, and why. I went pretty cheap with this rebuild, as I wasn't expecting to do it (lightning strike killed my last machine) and even so, it's working quite well. I haven't owned a computer built by a company since I switched from the Amiga to a Windows 95 machine. I wouldn't have it any other way.

If you build your own, you know all about it; it's weaknesses and strengths. Also, you'll never meet an employee that cares more about doing a good job on your computer than you do.

Hope you get things ironed out soon. Don't buy a refurb HD, and stick with brands you know. Don't get a mystery brand refurb for your boot drive! 😀
