Suppose you're traveling. It's been a long drive, you've covered a few hundred miles, and you are in need of a sparkling, refreshing beverage. But there's a problem: you aren't from around here! How ever will you communicate your desire to the natives?

    Pop vs Soda

Just take a quick peek at this website on your favorite portable net-accessible device, and you shall never again go without a tasty 7-up, even if you have to order a "coke" to get it.

You guys get pretty wild at those map conferences, don't you? 😎

I will say for a bunch of mostly socially awkward people they do have a good time, there is ALOT of drinking. The New England conference has a pub crawl every year that would rival a few pub crawls I did in college.

Ahh, beer. Is there anything it CAN'T do? 😉

I have been a fan of sad trombone for the past year. Will need to see if the others are critical. :-)

Its cool. Though as a person who deals with aerial imagery daily its funny to read what people think these things are. Also many of these 'anomalies' happen many many times over. I have found dozens of aircraft flying in my aerial imagery, and that is just for one county. People mystified by tiles lines is amusing to me (tile line, where one set of imagery stops and another begins).

    PWNED!

Better late praise than no praise. 🙂 Good one.

Quit missing 1/3 of your life! How to spend less time sleeping:
    http://ohgodthechicken.com/start-up-guide/

I did the 3-hour core sleep cycle quite a bit when I was in school. I didn't know there was an actual method to the madness, I just thought I was getting sleep wherever I could - on breaks, at lunch, in-between classes, etc. It wasn't ideal, but I kept my grades up.

When I used to take the bus or subway to work, I'd put that time to use as well. A nap on the way to work, a nap on the way home, and I had more free time at home for myself. It helped offset all the time the commute took away from me. I still liked a good 8-hour block on the weekends, though.

    Great XKCD comic today:

EDIT: THAT IS NOT AN XKCD COMIC, obviously. I think I wanted to use this link in the "who did I fart on in a previous life" thread, in regards to the workmen waking me up with Tank-like noise. Sorry.

I think THIS is the comic I was thinking of.

How to play Left 4 Dead, or any game, in 3D, for $2 (the cost of the glasses on Ebay) or for free, if you saved some old ones from the last time you saw a 3d movie.

I haven't tried it, but I say we get Atomm to try it first. Use plastic wrap over your keyboard, or you'll never get the chunks out! 😀

May just have to try that... I have some glasses here for NANO-saur 3D

3D Bolt made me sick.... I know better than to try this.....

At first, I thought you were going to tell me to wrap my head in plastic wrap.... 😛

Well, that would keep the chunks out of your keyboard as well 🙂

Bubba, if you try it, let us know how it goes. I still have several pairs of glasses left over from that 3-D promo they did for Chuck and the Super Bowl commercials. I'm tempted to try it in Left 4 Dead.

So a guy is talking to his buddy that he knew was drunk off his ass last night and asks him how he was doing. The guy said, I blew chunks. The other guy says don't sweat it buddy, we all get sick at some point. He turns to his buddy and says, but you don't understand, Chunks is my dog......

In this, the year when the Pirates are almost certain to top the Philadelphia Phillies record for consecutive losing seasons, I give you two other things the Pirates wish were not associated with them:

    Steve Blass Disease

    The Mendoza Line

After 16 losing seasons, there are plenty of things the Pirates wish were not associated with them, such as:

    Derek "Operation Shutdown" Bell

    Raul Mondesi

And most especially, THIS GUY 😀

Still, things are looking up. Management is finally taking the team in the right direction, drafting real talent instead of guys they can sign cheap, trading players that are soon to leave for free-agency for talented, or possibly talented, minor leaguers, etc. At least I don't have to scream at the TV or computer, "I could run the team better than you guys!" every time I read about a transaction anymore. And they're not putting the team in another deep hole, morgaging the future to eek out a winning season now, just to avoid the losing-season record.

BTW, The Phiilies would have had 30 losing seasons in a row, except their record in 1932 was 78-76, breaking up the run. We're not that bad - yet 😀

Creature Comforts - lovey dovey human like animals made of plastilina - you certainly already know them - but I did not until lately (2 months ago).

    The pet shop

    At the circus

I think that show only lasted like 3 episodes.

I saw them once when they were on TV. I think Bubba's right: it didn't stay on the air for too many episodes. I never could figure out what the premise was. Is it just ppl talking extemporaneously, and taken out of context to sound like something else? Are these professional voiceover actors reading prepared lines?

I found it surprisingly fun to watch in spite of my confusion, but I think it would work better in short 2-4 minute segments. Maybe as filler on HBO in-between movies and such. Maybe use it on a show like The Simpson's were used on the Tracey Ullmann show, before they were spun off into their own series.

And now for something completely different. Here's my favorite representation of this particular internet meme:

Since things have slowed down here, I thought some of you might like to hear about a comparable replacement for the discourse you're missing. Bet you could teach it to play games - well, TF2 and COD4, anyway. 😉

The bathroom monkey tackles the dirty jobs no one wants, but the Trunk Monkey is more versatile.
