    I thought this was really cool. They still have a ways to go, but if they pull it off, it has been called the holy grail of energy. Instead of using batteries, they are building super capacitors to store energy.

    They use an example of an electric car. With batteries, it needed to charge overnight for a 50 mile trip. Using their capacitors, it can go 500 miles on 5 minutes of charging.

    I can't wait for someone to develop the flux capacitor. That will be cool.

    Anyone who can substantially improve battery technology stands to make a pile of money. I've heard for awhile about ppl experimenting with capacitors as a battery replacement, with the idea that they charge fast and discharge slow, the last bit being the tricky part. If they can get that working, and make it safe enough that ppl aren't getting electrocuted all over the place, then we'll start seeing some interesting products.

    The person to build a better battery will be just like the people that build cars that burn anything but oil/gas to run...

    Speaking of gas, the B-52's around here are testing with synthetic gas and the tests are proving to be successful. Granted it is not the answer since it is still a fossil fuel, but it is less harmful to the environment.
