    That's pretty cool. Gather and farm them, and they could be helpful in rehabbing some contaminated areas. Not a complete solution to anything, but a piece of the solution to select problems. Want to restore the area around an old zinc plant? Do the usual cleanup and dump several hundred gross of these buggers on it.

    I read at one time they were studying the earthworms at Chernobyl for a similar phenomenon.

    I always thought it was cool how they eat dirt, then pooped dirt. Sort of like little dirt filters.

    BTW, this was from a link on the picture page. Check out these buggers. 4+ miles below the ocean. wow.

    Great pics. I should visit the Nat'l Geographic site more.

    I also got a chance to see the video about the thermal vents and the strange critters that grow around them. They give a clue as to what we might find one day on another planet - very strange forms of life.

    Great stuff. Huh? Far away from our daily "playgrounds". Highways, Industry complexes big as cities, geneticly modificated plants, patents on seeds and so on...
    Nature is much weirder but by far more perfect than scientists intents to imitate her. 🙂
