In theory, the higher the resolution of the mouse, the more accurate. I think that my MX510 is more accurate and smooth than its predecessor (a generic optical mouse). Having mouse feet that aren't worn out also helps a lot too makeing the movement smooth.
Bah, I still use the marble trackball I've had since 99... Wow that's a long time now that I think about it. And yes, in case anyone is curious, I do use it to play FPS as well. I'm just weird like that.
I use to play all my games with a Trackball. About 3 years ago, a buddy bought me an optical mouse for Christmas and I've just stuck with them. I like trackballs, but I can't go back. :-)
It comes in Monday.... I can't wait to start fragging!
I got the MX518 it has that 1600dpi and so far it's worked out really smooth.. I like the feel of the logitech more then the razer.. that mouse should also have a sensitivity adjustment button which comes in real handy.. the new laser mice are suppose to be out soon maybe already are from logitech.. I'll prolly bump up to one of those next spring.. I noticed a def improvement though going to the 518 from the Kensington I had before..
The laser mice are out. I went and looked at them at Best Buy. I did a lot of research online and for now I would avoid them. It seems they are having some problems with jumping. Every review I read said if you had a diamondback or MX518, then the difference was not worth the money.
I opted for the diamondback because of the fit. I tend to play back on my mouse. I couldn't even reach both side buttons on the MX518 and the higher arch pushed my hand back even further.
The problem I have with my laser mouse is it tracks the images on my mouse pad.
I had one of those 3D water drops mouse pads, and it kept jumping when it was on the edge of the "water drops"
I use my Wago (work related) mouse pad and it would jump over the picture in the pad.... I ended up throwing the damn thing against the wall and smashing the crap out of it, so I no longer have the problem (Like good ole' Joe...) and I went back to the Dell LED mouse.
Things I have trashed. 3 mice 1 pc 2 monitors 2 phones 2 pc head sets 1 cell phone 1 ball peen hammer 1 coke machine x Cd's (lost count) x Ceramic bull shit in the house 1 Blender 2 cats (neighbors NEVER my own) 1 paper shredder 2 watches
At least we know where he draws the line. Inanimate objects he owns are fair game, but living breathing things he owns are off limits. You gotta draw the line somewhere......
Well, the mouse came in. I got a little bad news. I was planning on installing it on the laptop and Desktop. However, it has a warning that says uninstall all other mouse drivers or it will cause problems. Guess I still to the desktop and if I like it, get another one for the laptop. :-)
actually sounds more like a conservative isolationist mouse. It's probably right handed, it wants to be the only mouse in the system, and it wants to throw out all of the existing programs and install its own set of rules so that no one else can use them. 😉

It's right or left handed. I failed to mention that. The Logitech MX518 is right handed only.
I have a different take on it. Razer knows all the MS drivers are crap, so they make sure you get them out of the way so they can actually work well. :-)
I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.
