Working on the server now. Gotta unpackage it, then repack it for Linux. I'll get it running later tonight.

    And a quote from DICE.

In BFV, you have essentially 8 different kits to choose from, compared to only 5 in BF1942. We have created an interesting mix of kits that should really expand on the core BF1942 balance without stretching it too much. For instance, we’ve added the mortar to a kit, which really opens up a ton of new strategies on the Pacific maps. And of course, adding armed passengers to vehicles like the jeeps, landing craft, and PT boat rafts makes these vehicles much more fun to use.

    How cool is that?!?!?

Games is working great for me.
Can't believe how quick people got their servers up!!

I'd have ours up if I wasn't at work. Everythings uploaded to the server. That's the hard part. I just hope it works with the linux server.

We have a match tonight and need to test a few custom BFV maps for Custom Map Night next Friday, but I imagine you will see us on after that.

Look for GamersRadio.com |GRB| WWII later this evening.

Hell, I came back to work just to download the mod. 10 minutes later, and I am now ready to leave.

So, what does everyone think so far? I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but ehil said it was awesome.
  12. #13
Played it vs. bots this afternoon for about 20 minutes. Seems pretty cool. Could not locate the Flamethrower though and was highly disappointed. Likely going to play a bit later on tonight for a while and will be on TS if I am.

where were you pulling it from?
  14. #15
just got done playing on our server... Atomm, where were you? Ended up with sarge, blueguy, myself and about 6-8 other players on at once. Over all I like it; however, they really should have got different maps... I mean come on IOTP as one of the maps!!!! Geez
  15. #16
    its awesome
  16. #17
I love IOTP and the jungle looks the best on that map.

I've seen a few things I didn't care much for. The cockpits of the planes for one. They look really bad. The M1 has a cartoon look to it. I kind of get the feeling they focused on the maps and jungle more than anything. It would have been cool if they had hired Merciless Creations to do the character models. :-) I noticed the vehicles handle a lot differently. The Chi-Ha freaking flies and it can turn on a dime. Overall, the engine feels a lot better than 42. I hope more maps come out for this.

I don't see why someone couldn't do a desert map and use the foliage in the towns, sort of oasis like.

You do not want me to even get strated on my oinion of this MoD. Lets just say ive already deleted it.
  18. #19
dude, it isn't that bad. However I did take a look at Iwo Jima and for the US you have no bleed at all. Have to learn how to drop bombs again, and the US Aircraft carrier doesn't respawn if it goes down. If it does respawn it takes FOREVER!!!

They took some liberties. I have a feeling it was more of a limitation of the design of the game engine. I'm still digging in. Right now, I like it.

I'm not liking this one bit. Honestly, it's a good translation but it only reminds me of why I don't play 1942 anymore. I just don't like the vehicles and weapons and speed of everything. I'll wait for a BFV DC mod. Am I correct in that I only saw 3 maps?
  21. #22
    Yeah there's only 3 maps.

I really like it. The speed differences make it seem more like a different game, which is why I liked DC also.

Point of Existence looks to be the "New DC" for BFV....

I'm the exact opposite. I love the weapons and vehicles. They feel even better on the new engine. I just love the WWII aspect. The brush is so freaking cool. I have not had so much fun on Iwo Jima. Sneaking up the hill using the tree's and grass was intense. Great Rush!

The flamethrower is awesome. Doesn't do much damage, but fun as hell. I just lit up like 5 guys trying to take the hill.
