XM to rebroadcast original D-Day news reports

    This is really cool.

I am particularly interested because I really want to hear the reports and get a feeling for how media treated war 60 years ago, compared with what it has turned into today. It is also a great way to reflect on the servicemen that lost their lives on that day.


    Not that I have XM or anything but I'm stuck in a training course that entire day 🙁

    Try XM Radio free for 3 days to see if any of the content is something you want to pay $8/month for. Registration is required, but you don't have to give out any credit card info.

    This sounds cool.

    I can stream XM on my Treo cell phone if I have an act. I may have to check out that free link sometime.

    I bet someone will record these broadcasts and we should be able to DL them.

    I have a program on my work computer that I use to record a radio that is plugged into it 24/7. I record various shows all night long so I can listen to it the next day or later on. if I had an XM stream here I could record the entire day myself. If you guys remind me when we get closer to it maybe I can get that free XM feed and record it just in case.

    I am surprised this was never released in the past.

    that'd be great. I'll be able to catch bits and pieces, but I'll miss most of it. I'm also not sure I'd want to listen to the whole thing straight, I'd probably burn out after a while you know?

    damn, looks like it goes from 00:41 on June 6th to 17:45 June 7th. That's a lot of shit.

    In that article it also mentions that the original NBC broadcasts that it will be based on are in the National Archive. So maybe it's already streamable/downloadable?

    well, I'm not listening. I never got around to signing up for the trial, and it looks like I won't be at a computer for much of today. Is anyone else?

    I am listening to the live365 account, it's great. The amount of propaganda involoved is amazing. The US official account is saying almost no casualities. The German account is saying how they have killed everyone.

    "Thousands of Allied bombers, only a handful of axis."

    It's amazing to hear the reporters use "big" words, and sound like they have more than an 8th grade education. They sound more like poets than current reporters. They really paint a picture of the scene.

    HAHA After all the talk I missed it too Sarge.
    But fear not!

    I found an Internet archive of the WWII radio broadcasts.
    You may listen at your leisure.
    If you feel like being truly authentic, you can always wait for the corresponding date and time.....

    BUT.... (and there always is a but....) the site is down right now.
    I'll post the address when it's back up.

    They need to get Denis Miller (A Pittsburgh native BTW) to do the reports 🙂
    (he talks like that, using obscure references and big words, for those that do not understand what I mean)

    BTW he has a one hour show on the radio.

    I always loved seeing the movie reels where they show what is going on in the war. Way over the top propaganda....
