    No nanotech for you! Ever!

    http://www.physorg.com/news114348754.html

I kinda had a bad feeling about nanotubes. . .the size scared me, thought it could cross the blood-brain barrier, perhaps cause brain issues like prions do in mad cow disease, might get into the lungs and cause uber-mesothelioma, maybe cause breaks/replication errors in DNA/RNA. . .I suppose someone will work on ways that will prevent fine shedding and such, but we should study this carefully.

I did... At least, I tried... It's late and I'm tired... Maybe I should have said this instead....

Huh? Cabon and Nano entering your bodie's cells is bad? (SIC)

Does this mean that we won't be having any nanites? 🙁

    What does (SIC) mean?

I do not agree at all with the ever statement. medicine and research always changes. They find ways around problems. it may take awhile, but I would not say it will never be safe.

Hell nanobots are just around the corner, I say within 20 years 🙂

Thats right, archive this Google! In 50 years when a student is reading this post from the past, I said it here 🙂
nanobots will be here and in use within 20 years! 🙂

Scary to think that everything we post here will be around that long....... things that make you go hmmmmmm..

Spelled InCorrectly - shows that the person is aware of the misspelling, and that it is intentional.

I did that in the "Chicago" thread when I called Peter Cetera "Peter Cesarian". Shoulda went with "Peter Vagina" though. 😀

    Nanobots != Nano Carbon Tubes

The word sic is sometimes erroneously thought to be an acronym from any of a vast number of phrases such as "spelling is correct", "same in copy", "spelled incorrectly", "said in context", or "sans intention comique" (French: without comic intent). These "backronyms" are all false etymologies.[4]

I actually thought it meant said in context...... or tongue in cheek... Guess I was way wrong....

Yeah the general usage is to incidcate that you the writer know there is an error, but you are just reporting or writing what your source said or wrote.

it derived from the latin Sicut, meaning "So"

And Doc as you can see from my avatar, I <3 Bucky Katt, but not that much.

As an interesting side note. While I was in college I used to take alot of physics classes. Our university was doing alot of leading edge nano-tech stuff especially in the field of Bucky balls. They used to post the cool findings of their work in the lobby of the building every week, it was a fun read, and I often found myself late to class because of it.
