Sabot releasing None More Black’s “This Is Satire” on vinyl

Sabot Productions has announced that sometime during the Spring of 2007 they will be releasing None More Black‘s final release, This Is Satire on vinyl. The album was recently regarded as a classic by one of our staff reviewers.

This is not the first time Sabot has worked with the band. They released their debut EP Loud About Loathing back in 2004.

The band broke up late last year and went on to start projects such as OnGuard and Ram & Ox.

Thursday, Killwhitneydead, This Is Hell, Capital, I Am the Avalanche confirmed for Seaweed tribute

The first batch of confirmed bands has been announced for Engineer‘s tribute to 90s-era punk/post-punk act Seaweed. The Tacoma, Washington-based band started out releasing material on their own Leopard Gecko imprint in 1989, before moving onto a vinyl single with K Records, signing to Sub Pop a few years later for their career building albums “Despised,” “Weak,” and “Four.” Then Hollywood Records picked the band up in 1993 and released their largest album to date, 1995’s “Spanaway,” their bombastic major label offering. Lasting only 1 album on Hollywood, the band and label unhitched and Seaweed then moved back to the indies. Merge Records issued their final release in 1999, “Actions and Indications” turned into their swan song and the band split later the same year. Seaweed’s decade of existence came to an end.

A diverse range of bands has been confirmed for the disc including Thursday, Killwhitneydead, This Is Hell, Capital, I Am the Avalanche, Stephen Brodsky, Kover, and others.

A Guyliner Expose

The folks about Double Viking have put together an interesting little story for a quiet little Friday afternoon. As you gear up for a weekend of frivolity and chastity, take a moment to read this article which looks at the growing menace of “guyliner.”

A choice bit from the article:

Jared Leto used to be a name that meant something. He was in American Psycho. Requiem for a Dream. Fight Club. Leto was in numerous kickass movies, and it appeared that he might be the next rising star of quasi-independent film.

Then he started wearing guyliner. He formed the band 30 Seconds to Mars and disappeared off the Hollywood radar for a year or so. How does one go from getting the shit kicked out of them by Edward Norton to being Colin Farrell’s subservient boyfriend in a bad Oliver Stone movie?

Check it out here.

Tours: Riverboat Gamblers / The Arrivals

Livers from Texas to California are on notice as the Riverboat Gamblers have announced plans for a small tour with Chicago’s Arrivals in June. They’ll be joined on dates by bands such as Toys that Kill, Eagles of Death Metal, The Burning Brides and Swing Ding Amigos.

Of note is the addition of Dillinger Four‘s one and only Paddy to the Arrivals. I guess things must be going great with Civil War if he can take time off to tour. Anyways…
