Slipknot Movie on Two Disc DVD

M. Shawn Crahan — aka Clown of Slipknot fame has a cool article on billboard.com where he talks about his work on the upcoming Slipknot DVD or as he calls it, the Slipknot Movie on DVD. As a huge fan of Slipknot, I am anxious to see the work Clown put together for this two disc DVD set, especially after reading this quote.

"My band tours for months and months and months on end," Crahan says, "and you'd think we're crazy to put up with the shit we have to put up with to get on stage for an hour-and-a-half. So that's what the movie had to feel like; it had to be one conscious thought … to just grab reality, grab the truth of it."

"I spent a lot of time organizing it in a way that I was speaking to you," he continues. "Hopefully people will pick up on that."

The release date is set for December 5th, just in time to stuff your stocking with a little Slipknot madness this Holiday Season.

Tony Hawk Project 8 Soundtrack

While this isn't exactly new news, when I saw the other day that the new Tony Hawk console based skateboarding game would have a monster of a soundtrack, I had to find out more.  Tony Hawks Project 8, which is due in stores in early November, features a soundtrack of 56 songs from a wide variety of artist sampling hip-hop, punk, new wave, funk, metal and everything in between.  While I cannot comment on the quality of the game (although the reputation of this title is very good), I can vouch for the quality of the soundtrack.  Here's a partial list and you can click "read more" to see the entire list.

76% Uncertain – "Radio"
Aurelius- "Hemlock"
Bad Religion – "Social Suicide"
Black Mountain – "Druganaut"
Charizma & PB Wolf – "Devotion"
Claus Grabke – "Cause"
Cryptic Slaughter – "Lowlife"
Damian Marley – "Move"
Dead Milkmen, The – "Punk Rock Girl"
Die Young (TX) – "Anthem of the Prodigal Son"
Eagles of Death Metal – "Chase The Devil"
Funk Face – "Zoo York City"
Gnarls Barkley – "Gone Daddy Gone"
Gym Class Heroes – "The Queen And I"
Hieroglyphics – "At The Helm"
Hold Steady, The – "Your Little Hoodrat Friend"

We will be eligible to be listed in the ITunes Radio Directory. Not only is this cool, but if you listen via ITunes, there is no login to Live365!

We will be eligible to be listed on the Microsoft Media Player Radio Station website. Again, this would be cool!

Major Update for GR2

Wow!  After laughing hysterically at The Office last night, I spent the remainder of the evening processing a major update to Gamers Radio 2:  The Punk Phase .  I went into the update with the goal of diversifying the number of bands and I think everyone is going to be very happy with what I've added for new music.  First, I sent packing a bunch of the lower rated songs, others that sounded poor, and ones that I thought sucked whether anyone else liked them or not.  All in all about 50 songs came off the air and were replaced by around 75 for nearly 8 hours of music!

I took this opportunity to fix the songs that sounded like garbage, and I hope I did that, particularly with some of the Dag Nasty songs.  Let me know if you hear anything that sounds too low, too high, or of generally poor quality.

For the "new" music, I added some of the 80's punk and hardcore like Agent Orange, Black Flag, Descendents, Social Distortion and Bad Religion.  I also stepped back to the very roots of punk rock and added some tunes by a group called Wire and another little known band called The ClashMinor Threat and Fugazi have finally shown up, as have Pennywise and Operation Ivy.  There is a lot of more recent stuff as well and you'll hear songs by the Selby Tigers, Retrace, Pulley, Roughnecks, Rise Against and Avail among others.  You will have to listen to find out the rest.

I also want to call extra attention to a band called the Belligerents that includes our very own Hymen Slaughter (That's not his real name) on drums.  You can find three of their songs in the rotation and I don't think you will be disappointed.

Stop by the Gamers Radio Forums  or drop us a line at [email protected] and let us know what you think.

Battlefield 2142 DVD Can Not Play Online

And you guys think I make this stuff up. Battlefield2142.nl is reporting the following:

"Heads-up for everyone who ordered the DVD version of BF2142. Battlefield 2142 needs to be patched before online play can begin. The EA downloader version already has this patch build in.

This new patch is not yet available on EA Downloader, unlike the messagebox says. We expect the patch to be available at the same time as the EA Downloader version of Battlefield 2142 is available for online play."

Seriously, I can't write comedy material this funny…..

Top 13 Reasons Why I Am Not Buying Battlefield 2142

Tomorrow is the release date for the next game in the Battlefield series. It also marks the first time I will not be buying a Battlefield game since the original Battlefield 1942. I figured a lot of other people feel the same way, but EA's Marketing department will probably be at a loss for why the game flopped. To help them understand, I wrote 13 reasons Why I Am Not Buying Battlefield 2142.

13. EA lies to you soldier! Their Quality Assurance department bombs you instead.

12. Official Ranked server program has taken the fun out of the Battlefield franchise.

11. Complete lack of support for easy to install Custom Maps that could lengthen the lifespan of the game.

10. Still smarting from my purchase of Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons.

9. EA absorbing DICE, especially considering all the great developers they purchased and ran into the ground previously. Origin, Westwood, Bullfrog and recently DICE Canada one day after the completion of the DICE/EA acquisition.

8. Lack of mod support for BF2 including buggy, hard to use mod tools.

7. Slick doublespeak Marketing tactics disquised as an appeal to the Battlefield Community.

6. The BF2142 Demo causes Crash To Desktop (CTD), which was a bug they "fixed" in BF2 previously!

5. Apparently $50 is not enough to insulate a person from in game advertisements or the ad tracking spyware installed with the game.

4. The "revolutionary" new "Titan" game mode has been around for years in the form of "Onslaught" for Unreal Tournament 2004 ($9.95 no less) as well as, objective mode in Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons and numerous mods for Battlefield games.

3. Still no Capture The Flag (CTF).

2. Terrible unlock system designed more like a MMORPG instead of great, "quick fix" First Person Shooter (FPS).

1. As a Battlefield Fan who has purchased every Battlefield game and expansion since Battlefield 1942, I have finally got it through my thick skull that EA is going to promise the world before the game is released, then two weeks later announce their next great Battlefield game where they are moving all of the BF2142 coders who could have helped release patches in a timely manner leaving the battlefield community to wonder when we will receive a patch to fix all of the same problems that have been present since Battlefield 1942.
