We have the press release for OzzFest 2006. You can find out why Ozzy is only doing 10 shows, who the bands will be and find out what some of those bands think of being on OzzFest. As a special treat, we have the list of cities OzzFest will be visiting in 2006.
“They came, they saw, they pumped fists,†wrote Entertainment Weekly last year about the fans who experienced the “sweaty-heady essence†of the 10th anniversary of the king of festivals, the mighty OZZFEST .
And now, amped up to 11, the summer’s premiere touring concert festival enters its second decade this July with clenched teeth and trademark invincible spirit. OZZfest will roll out July 1 in San Francisco and visit 20 cities, with venues TBA.
Founder and namesake OZZY OSBOURNE is set to headline just 10 shows this summer. Why? “Because after 10 years I feel it’s time to let someone else share the headlining spotlight. We want to shake it up a bit this year,†says OZZY. “I’ve closed virtually every OZZfest performance for a decade now and I feel I can finally let other artists headline our festival and that’s my intention for the future.â€

Big congrats goes out to EFF for a well fought victory against us!
Both teams fought very well and hard, but EFF was able to take us out with a smile 🙂 Continue reading EFF vs GRB on TWL →
This is absolutely amazing. If I was a stockholder in EA, I would be pissed for wasting so much time and money on a second 3d Ultima MMORPG project, then cancelling it. Once again, EA, You Suck!
Here is the information from the official website:
June 30, 2004
Dear Ultima X: Odyssey community members,
As of today, development on Ultima X: Odyssey has ended. We feel that Ultima Online is where we need to focus our online efforts and most of my team will be moving to the UO expansion pack, the UO live team, and an unannounced Ultima Online project. Development on UO will be greatly enhanced as we consolidate our resources behind that franchise.
This isnt an easy decision but it’s the right move for the future of all things Ultima, including the community and the team. We look forward to sharing our plans for the future of Ultima Online very soon.
I would like to thank all of the Ultima X: Odyssey supporters who have been with us from the beginning. I hope you will continue to support the Ultima franchise and the development team as they transition to new projects.
David “InQWis” Yee
Producer, Ultima X: Odyssey
First up, is the mad mans festival of music, Ozzy Osbourne and Ozzfest. Straight off of the pain killers and into an amphitheatre near you. Joining Ozzy will be none other than Slayer, Judas Priest with Rob Halford and Slipknot. I didnt see any tour dates listed, but if you are a fan, then drop by Billboard.com and check it out.
Our number two features today is the 10th Anniversary Vans Warp Tour where the line announced includes Bad Religion, the Vandals, Good Charlotte, Lars Frederiksen & the Bastards. All totaled, expect 50 bands to participate. Jimminy Christmas, 50?!?!? Get the full scoop here.
Staying really busy this year is one of my all time favorite live performing bands, Slipknot. This time around, they will be heading the Jägermeister Music Tour, along with Fear Factory and Chimaira to name a few. This will be a small venue tour and if you are in my neck of the woods, check them out on May 2 in Oklahoma City at the Bricktown Events Center. If you have not seen Slipknot live, you are missing one hell of a performance. More details can be found here.
This story is a little late, but I felt it was important enough to list. If you missed it and you are a fan of Ultima, Ultima Online, Richard Garriott, MMORPGs or even D&D, check it out.
Here is a taste of one of the articles to wet your whistle:
“Late in 1994, Richard Garriott was not a happy visionary. Sitting in Electronic Arts CEO Larry Probsts office, listening to the older mans explanations for why online worlds werent a good investment, he sighed. This was the third time hed been here making the same pitch. He might as well be an arcade game character — with three lives. This was the last one, at least for this game. He was ready to call it quits. This corporate game was no fun at all.”
Get the full scoop on Gamespys Dungeons and Dreamers website.
EA just announced their next foray into the MMORPG genre. Read on for the full press release. In addition to the press release, Gamespy had a bunch of screenshots. Looks more like EQ, then UO if you ask me. (Screenshots are gone for some strange reason.) Continue reading EA Announces Next MMORPG, Ultima X: Odyssey →
