A Wilhelm Scream complete new album

A Wilhelm Scream have completed work on their next album. Of some note is the fact that the band remains on Nitro, a label which has been remarkably quiet for the past few months.

They announced the completion saying:

We’re finishing up the sequencing. It’s gonna be a 13 song joint this time. A few songs are over the five minute mark. They’re for the stoners. The vast majority of the record is fast. Very very fast. Actually, I think the whole thing’s fast. The other two songs we recorded will find their way to you in special ways after the record’s out. Those two songs aren’t that fast (comparatively) so they didn’t make the record. We really like them alot, so they will get released, but hey, they weren’t fuckin’ fast enough!! OK?! This one’s built for speed.

We’re gonna try to get the art done in time to make a late August release via Nitro Records and Hot Sauce. MP3s will come, we’ll let ya know when.

The band released their last record, Ruiner, in 2005.

Video of the Week: Nakatomi Plaza – “The Ghost Intrigue” (live in Richmond, VA)

I’ve never been a fan of indie rock. Then again, with lines blurring more and more every day, defining a genre is next to impossible. Brooklyn’s Nakatomi Plaza are one of the best examples of this idea. The band plays a mix of punk and indie rock that any fan of Fugazi to Fifth Hour Hero would be down with.

The band recently released their debut LP, Unsettled via Red Leader Records, which speaking of, can be streamed in its entirety over the Nakatomi Plaza Punknews profile. However, this week’s clip comes from a recent performance here in Richmond of a brand new song to be featured on an upcoming compilation. You can check out the recorded version over at the band’s MySpace page.

Atreyu wants you to jump through figurative hoops to find literal song

Atreyu has released the first song from their upcoming debut for Hollywood Records. The catch is that the song itself is not going to be easily available, first you need to assemble it from 20 small clips of the song which need to be placed in the right order.

Once completed your time is entered in a competition to win a prize pack that includes an autographed guitar and a copy of the album before it hits stores. The track, “Becoming the Bull” is expected to appear on the band’s highly anticipated new record which is due out sometime in August.

You can give it a try here.

Atreyu‘s last studio record was A Death-Grip on Yesterday. It was followed by a retrospective of their Victory-era career simply titled The Best of Atreyu.
