Constantines recording in August

The Constantines are set to hit the studio this August to record the follow up to 2005’s Tournament of Hearts. The band’s been busy with touring and solo side projects since that album’s reelase. Keyboard player Will Kidman recently released his latest record as Woolly Leaves, titled Quiet Waters, while guitarist Steve Lambke issued his debut as Baby Eagle.

The Canadian Sub Pop act has a few shows this summer. They’ll apppear in Calgary on June 29th at the Grand Theatre, followed by a pair of festival dates. This includes the July 22nd S.C.E.N.E. Festival in St. Catherines, ON and the August Sappy Records Music Festival in Sackville, NB.

EA / DICE unexpectedly released v1.40 beta for Battlefield 2142 today. The beta includes Highway Tampa as well as the highly requested autosave feature for kits. Since this is a beta be sure to backup your game before you install this patch.

– Fixed an exploit that would allow commanders to call Orbital and EMP strikes before it had fully recharged.
– The Clark RDX Shotgun can now detonate other nearby explosives.
– EU Assault Rifle recoil and deviation have been slightly reduced.
– Bianchi and Shuko LMGs recoil reduced.
– Clark Shotgun rate of fire increased.

FEATURES
– Added an autosave to kit customizations. After you customize a kit and spawn in with that kit, the customization will be automatically saved until you change it and spawn in again. Note that you must spawn in with a particular kit for it to be saved.
– Added a new map, Highway Tampa.

We recently got word of a new “super group” featuring members bands such as Swingin Utters, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, Dead to Me, One Man Army, Filthy Thieving Bastards and Bottles & Skulls. The group calls themselves Re-volts, and currently have no label affiliation.

They’ve posted a few tracks online which can be heard at their MySpace page.

Tigershark to host celebration of the life of Jonny Z, release split with ¡APESHIT!

On June 30th, Richmond VA’s Tigershark will be taking part in celebrating the life of their late drummer Jonny Z by playing one last show, as well as officially releasing their split 12″ with ¡APESHIT! from Brooklyn, NY. A friend of the band will be filling in on drums for this one show.

Complimented with the cover artwork by local Richmond artist Kate Horne, this album will include 5 new songs from Tigershark, and 7 new songs from ¡APESHIT!. The album’s first pressing will be on limited purple 12″ vinyl, and is now available for pre-order from MolSook Records.

The show will run from 9pm to midnight at the Bike Lot in Richmond, VA and will also feature Pink Razors and Municipal Waste .
