Fall Out Boy promising “Bizarre” songs on next album

Fall Out Boy‘s Patrick Stump recently discussed the band’s next full length with Billboard. The band already has a full album’s worth of material,

Stump also notes:

[We are going in] some very different directions. There’s lots of really bizarre ideas on there, everything from folk to … actually, I was experimenting with piano phases, like Steve Reich, the composer. There’ll be some weird stuff, but at the end of the day, it’s probably just gonna be a pop record.”

The band is currently on tour supporting Infinity on High.

Paul Fox (1951-2007)

Paul Fox, best known as the guitarist of influential reggae punks, The Ruts, has passed away at 56 following a battle with lung cancer. Just this past summer, Fox performed with the surviving members of the Ruts and fronted by Henry Rollins.

Formed in the late 70s, the Ruts were among the first wave of British punk bands, taking influence from reggae and punk rock and being active in the early anti-racist movement. Though the Ruts were no longer performing, Paul remained active in music, performing with the Dubcats.

Our condolences to Paul’s friends, family and fans.

Cursive loses drummer, adopts Cornbread Compton

Cursive has announced the departure of drummer Clint Schnase. The band explained:

fter years on the road Clint has decided to spend more time at home in Omaha, NE with his happy family of Whippets. Clint has been a lover of Whippets and worked with them for a number of years. He feels it is his spiritual calling, “You can see your future (or whatever) in their eyes.”

Clint’s heavy sticks have been passed to the wonderful Cornbread Compton who has travelled and played with the band for the last 5 months. Clint responded enthusiastically when Cornbread accepted the drumming position with a loud, “F***ING SWEET, MAN”. Well put.

Cursive most recently delivered Happy Hollow.
