Strung Out goes into more detail about recent theft, other incidents

Jordan Burns, drummer of long-running Fat Wreck Chords act Strung Out recently went into a little more detail about the challenges the band has been facing this tour as well as challenges that were punctuated by the brazen theft of their van and trailer in Philadelphia.

In a lengthy board post, Jordan related stories of a guitar tech’s arrest, a drum tech’s emergency room visit, and addressed the common question as to whether the band had insurance for the theft of their vehicles and gear:

Insurance companys are FUCKED and we will only be covered on the van itself. Our gear and trailer…were fucked on. Its a serious bigtime learning lesson. We will get lojack and all the proper coverage next time around. Why are we in a van? Well because the cost of a bus is $1000 a day on average. We’ve toured in all sorts of different vehicles…we just didnt feel like wasting the cash on the bus this time.

Green Day talks new album

Green Day Green Day recently spoke to Rolling Stone magazine about the upcoming follow up to American Idiot.

As far as progress goes, things are currently in a state of “total chaos” with little in the way of themes defined at present. He also has been writing on a piano rather than the guitar on which he composed previous albums.

Billie Joe added:

I want to dig into who I am and what I’m feeling at this moment – which is middle-aged. We’ve been doing this for almost twenty years now. You want to make sure you’re being honest with yourself. I also have to ask myself, ‘What’s real out there?'” Right now it seems stagnant.

So we’re only in our second year of bearing down and finding out what we want to do. I just want to put my head down and keep grinding at it.

The band’s last album won a myriad of awards and garnered the most critical and commercial acclaim the band had seen since their breakthrough 1994 album, Dookie.
