Henry Rollins direct-to-DVD sequel due out this week

In what is certainly a stretch, Henry Rollins will be appearing as a retired military commander named Dale Murphy in a straight-to-DVD film called Wrong Turn 2: Dead End. The DVD is a sequel to the 2003 horror film Wrong Turn which starred Desmond Harrington and Eliza Dushku.

According to the Wikipedia description:

a group of six contestants are thrown together for six days in a simulated post-apocalyptic wasteland due to their participation in a reality television show called The Ultimate Survivalist: The Apocalypse, hosted and produced by [Rollins’ character] in which the winner will walk away with $100,000. Located in a remote part of West Virginia, the contestants soon discover that what they really are fighting for is their survival — against a family of hideously deformed inbred cannibals who plan to ruthlessly butcher them all.

The film will be released on October 9th.

Green River to reunite for Sub Pop 20th Anniversary

Green River, an early “grunge” act from Seattle that includes members of Mudhoney and Pearl Jam will reunite next summer to perform at a 20th anniversary concert for Sub Pop Records, according to Billboard.com.

Gossard confirmed that the one-off reunion would happen in 2008, explaining:

Pearl Jam has toured with Mudhoney, so we played with Mark and Steve. But we haven’t played with Alex (Vincent, drummer) and Bruce (Fairweather, guitarist) in quite a while. They’re both excited about it, from everything I’ve heard.

The band formed in 1984 and took its name from the Green River Killer that was terrorizing Seattle at the time. The band’s first release, a 1985 EP called Come On Down is often described as the first “grunge” record, combining aspects of metal and punk rock and eventually taken into the mainstream by Nirvana.
