Dance Gavin Dance vocalist resurfaces in Emarosa

Just a few days after the brutal and sometimes awkward post announcing the departure of singer Jonny Craig from Dance Gavin Dance, the vocalist has popped up in another band. Craig confirmed that he has joined Emarosa.

He also addressed his former bandmates accusations and criticisms saying:

I guess there is really only way to confront the issue and that is tell my side of the story. The “drug” abuse was something that I did have to deal with at one point in my life, but not recently within this past year.

I never stole drugs from anyone to try and get by and I never ran away due to my home BEING in Canada….I live there. I have my G.E.D and plan on taking college courses if time from touring allows so. I hold no grudges to any of the guys for kicking me out and leaving me in New Jersey whatsoever and I want everyone to understand that.

Millencolin updates on recording process

Millencolin Millencolin, who entered Sound Lab Studios in Örebro, Sweden on November 1st, have posted some updates as they work towards their seventh full length record.

Guitars are done! Mathias and Erik made the time schedule of finishing two songs a day. We’re super happy how the guitars turned out. The guitar sound like the rest of the instruments sounds amazing.

The vocal mic is in position and so is Mr. Singer. They are trying out some vocal stuff right now as I’m writing this. Starting to sound like a record!

The band is working on the follow up to 2005’s Kingwood. Since Kingwood, members of the band have been involved in other projects including Nikola Sarcevic’s solo project and Mathias working on Franky Lee.

Radiohead explains donation plan as stunt thought up by management

In an interview with BBC Radio 6 personality Steve Lamacq Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke let the world know the band’s grand scheme with their donation-based sale of their recent opus In Rainbows: there was none. Contrary to what seemed to be the case, the band had no plans of turning the industry on it’s head as many analysts and bloggers speculated. It seems it was an idea thought up by their management who were reticent to sign a contract without a finished record. The band kept the plan close to themselves with Yorke keeping even his wife in the dark about it and compares the move to leaking the album themselves, only allowing some profit to be made.

The band decided to release a digital version of In Rainbows, allowing the customer to pay whatever they felt they needed to for it, a move heralded as a sea change in the industry, given the band’s stature. However they then received a fair amount of criticism for then going back to a traditional label for widespread physical distribution.

For the full interview you can listen here.

Our friends at Quote Unquote recently commented on the situation saying: Is this a bummer? Who know.

Progress updates from A Static Lullaby: record, video and tour plans

A Static Lullaby has posted on an update on progress towards their next full length for Fearless.

We are currently in the middle of writing the new record and it’s been going extremely well. We pushed back our recording date a few months, so now we have a little more time to focus on making the best record possible. We’ve also taken this time off to finally begin to shape the band into the best possible form.

As many of you noticed, we have parted ways with our guitarist John. There is no longer any dissention in the band and we are both collectively happier with our current situations. We wish him the best of luck with his future projects. It’s also important to know that we are NOT on the lookout for a new guitarist as we are currently much better off and comfortable as a four piece.

we have a brand new music video coming out soon! It will be premiering next week and should hopefully be able to hold you guys over till we can get some new music out for you. Also be on the lookout for a short run of shows early next year. We’ll be playing some of the new songs, and we expect you guys to come out and tell us what you think.

The album will be the follow up to A Static Lullaby and the band has enlisted producer Steve Evetts to handle the proceedings.
