More details on free Pennywise album

More details have been revealed about Pennywise‘s recently announced collaboration with MySpace Records.

The as-yet untitled album will be released simultaneously on CD+DVD and MySpace on March 25, 2008. To download the album for free beginning March 25, 2008, users simply have to add promotional partner “Textango” as a friend. Guitarist Fletcher Dragge added:

We know that this will piss off a lot of people in the music industry and what do we say to that? ‘Who cares?’ We’ve been pissing people off for 18 years. Why stop now? We have been telling people to get our records by any mean necessary for 17 years. As a band, we decided that it was time to come to terms with the facts. There are a lot of people out there who want their music for free, so we got proactive and with the help of MySpace Records and Textango we found away to make it happen…we couldn’t be more stoked…

The retail version will include a DVD and some exclusive tracks will also be made available on the vinyl edition of the record. The album is Pennywise’s ninth and first since The Fuse which was released in 2005

The biggest bit of news is some more details about the new record from The Falcon:

I’m writing a concept record… it’s about a young man who’s car breaks down in Hurley and spends a year, one strip club per day (this is in an alternate universe where there are 8 days in a week). Songs are from the perspectives of the strippers, the club owners, the young man, and a cat that speaks only french for some reason.

Guitarist Dave Yoha leaves Set Your Goals

Set Your Goals guitarist Dave Yoha has announced his departure from the melodic hardcore act. The band explained:

So the time has finally come to announce Dave’s departure from the band. He’s expressed to us that the full-time touring lifestyle is no longer right for him, at least not at this point in his life. We support him and there are no hard feelings.

Dave gave us notice he would be leaving SYG about a month ago but up until now, we had kept things mostly under wraps and only a few close friends of the band were notified of the unfortunate news. We did this because we do not want our inbox, emails, and voicemails flooded with people asking us to try out. We already have some friends in mind who we’re going to try out for lead guitarist so PLEASE do not contact us asking to try out.

The band’s upcoming tour with Gallows will go on as scheduled with a temporarily replacement.
