Burn in Silence ( -2008)

Prosthetic Records act Burn in Silence has announced that they’ve decided to call it quits. According to a MySpace blog,

It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the end of Burn In Silence. This band has had the great opportunity to play shows all across the country with great bands and in front of great people. I want to thank EVERY musician who helped to make BIS what it was no matter how long they were in the band. I will continue to keep this page updated as to let you guys know what is going on with the former members. Thank you all very much for your love and support over the past years, through the good and the bad you put a smile on my face every day knowing that we had people that cared about this band! We will never forget you guys and all the love.

The band will perform their final show in Boston this April. Details are forthcoming.

YouInSeries (2003-2008)

YouInSeries has announced that after five years together, the band has “finally ran its course.” Kyle (vocals) had this to say regarding the break-up:

We were in the process of writing songs for our second record when I was informed that some of us were not compelled to continue with this lifestyle anymore. It saddens me in such a way that its hard to express in words. I really wish we could have recorded our new songs for you guys to hear. It was some of my favorite material I have ever worked on.

The band released Outside We Are Fine through Equal Vision in 2006.

Rancid recording update; new album in June

Rancid has posted an update on their recording progress:

In late 2007 we all spent a few weeks together writing in Utah at Unknown Studios. The chemistry has been incredible and this record has come together very organically. All of the songs were written with us all 4 together in the same room. We hung out at Brandens house and when it wasn’t snowing we would play soccer, skate the ramp, and work on our UK Photobook.

Sometimes we’d just sit back and watch a Johnny Cash or Social Distortion dvd. We enjoyed having an environment where we could just relax and write with no pressure or distractions. Some days the snow would come down so much that it created a real feeling of solitude, bringing us together. Each night when we’d go out to eat at the local restaurants it was interesting to have us all together out in such a conservative community. It was like Rancid dining with the Osmonds, that was pretty much how it felt.

In early Jan 2008 we started recording the 7th Rancid record with producer Brett Gurewitz (who has produced 4 previous Rancid records). It’s coming along great and we’re deep into it at this point still currently tracking. With an expected release in June 2008, we are working hard and very proud of what we’ve done so far. We will post more info, videos and photos from our writing and recording sessions soon!

Weatherbox guitarist departs

Weatherbox guitarist Lowell Heflin has left the band. The band provided some sort of explanation, though it appears that he has formed a new band:

Lowell Heflin has left us due to the gravitional pull of Mars in the 12th house of Aquarius. He has been stretched across the galaxy in a spiral shape with no one but a dog at his side. Rejoice and lament Lowell’s dissapearance from current realities. His band is where it is at: We Are Lanterns.

Lowell has had an interesting time with the band, particularly in Nashville where the guitarist was attacked for intervening when two men made racist comments in front of him towards another person.

The band has filled Heflin’s space, recruiting Japandi guitarist George Pritzker.
