Kevin Lyman announces “Rockstar Mayhem Tour” with Slipknot, Disturbed, punching people

Kevin Lyman, the man behind Warped and Taste of Chaos has gone in a decidedly different direction for his new tour, the Rockstar Mayhem tour. Unlike the punk-focused Warped tour or the emo-focused Taste of Chaos, Mayhem looks to be taking on more mainstream hard rock and metal and the opening lineup will feature notorious masked band Slipknot and Finch punchers Disturbed.

The run is expected to run from July to August of this year, which is exactly the same time as Ozzfest traditionally runs. The timing seems more than coincidental in light of the hostility between Lyman and the Osbournes that boiled over last year.

Propagandhi posts tentative 2008 roadmap

Propagandhi have posted their tentative 2008 roadmap:

welcome to the Chinese Year of the Rat! This is the first year in history that we are going to actually try to plan our year out rather than just do things randomly (don’t worry, we have adults helping us). So our tentative schedule so far includes: going to Japan in spring*, perhaps going to Scandinavia in summer* and finally, recording a new record in September.

Last year, the band delivered Live from Occupied Territory: An Official Bootleg DVD.

Lemuria: “Get Better”

LemuriaAbout a year ago Lemuria was featured on Punknews as an “Editor’s Pick.” In the year since the trio has released some limited vinyl, a collection of said vinyl and taken the time to record an LP’s worth of material. We’re proud to bring you the stream of said LP, Get Better today.

Lemuria mixes abnormal song structures, indie rock melodies and punk aggression into a formula that’s all their own. Completing the mixture with a blend of vocals from all three members, the band stands out amidst their peers as being original and invigorating.

Lagwagon unable to cross border for free Toronto show

Joey Cape from Lagwagon has reported that the band will not be able to make their planned free Toronto show with Strung Out. It looks like border issues were the cause of the cancellation, with the band unable to enter Canada, Joey joked:

What’s the deal with Canada and tall people? For some reason every time we try to play a show there, they say Chris Flippin can’t go because he’s too large. Take it from me, I am very small and far angrier than Flippin on his worst day. Maybe Chris Flippin has Marfan Syndrome or a wacky pituitary gland. Perhaps whatever it is that made him a freak of nature is not his fault. Regardless, I think it is a shame Canada takes issue with such a thing as abnormal height. It just doesn’t seem fair. Sure, he’s a giant and a felon but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a extremely nice guy.

In all honesty, Lag Wagon apologize to anyone in Toronto or its surrounding areas who had planned on coming to see us Saturday night. We are really bummed. I promise we will be there by sometime next summer to make up for it.

The show will go on without them.

Tours: Earth Crisis / Terror / Sworn Enemy / Down to Nothing / Recon

Earth CrisisInfluential metal/hardcore act Earth Crisis have announced the rest of the dates for their reunion tour.

The shows will be supported by a number of acts including Terror, Sworn Enemy, Shai Hulud, Down To Nothing, and Recon. Formed in 1992, the band was notable for their militant stance towards animal rights issues and the straight edge lifestyle. Though the band split up in 2001, members remained active in a number of projects, and frontman Karl Buechner even surfaced last year to defend straight edge in an alarmist piece about the movement helmed by Geraldo Rivera.
