Tours: New Amsterdams (US and Europe)

Lawrence, Kansas’ The New Amsterdams have posted a bunch of new dates to their MySpace page. The band will be hitting the West Coast in the US and then traveling off to Europe, where perhaps they will gain a new worldly perspective, and like, totally not have time for their old friends anymore or whatever. And get all annoying about what beer they drink now. Whatever.

The band released At the Foot of My Rival last year and frontman Matthew Pryor also released If You Ever See an Owl… with his other project The Terrible Twos.

Video from the Bad Brains on MTV 52/52

Washington, DC’s Bad Brains recent appearance on MTV is now available online. The set is part of the television channel’s 52/52 campaign. Each band selected is given a week’s worth of coverage. Previous bands featured include Against Me!, Tegan And Sara, and Paramore.

The band released Build a Nation, their first studio album in a over decade in 2007. It was produced by Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys).

Matt Skiba working with Ashes Divide (A Perfect Circle)

Ashes Divide, the new side project from A Perfect Circle’s Billy Howerdel has enlisted Alkaline Trio‘s Matt Skiba as lyric coach and collaborator on the track “The Prey.”

While Matt will not appear directly on the album, his work with Billy will make up the track on the band’s upcoming Island Records debut, Keep Telling Myself It’s Alright.

This will be Hot Water Music’s ONLY appearance during SXSW. This FREE event will be held at Red 7 (611 East 7th Street) on Friday March 14th, doors open at noon sharp. There will be limited space at this event, so please arrive early to be assured entry.

Rise Against announce Warped Tour dates

Chicago’s Rise Against has confirmed their US Warped Tour performance dates. These dates will be preceded by shows in Europe including the Download Festival in England (with the Offspring and Motorhead among others) followed by the Greenfield Festival in Switzerland, and both the Hurricane and Southside Festivals in Germany.

The band may just be supporting their new record by the time these shows roll in. The follow up to 2006’s The Sufferer & the Witness is expected sometime this year.
