Motion City Soundtrack: “It Had to be You”

Motion City Soundtrack and MTV have partnered to produce the band’s newest music video. The video for the song ‘It Had to be You’ is the result of MTVU’s Best Film on Campus contest, which was won by Lauren Simpson, who was able to direct the video for the song.

‘It Had to be You’ is off Motion City Soundtrack’s newest album, Even if it Kills me which received mixed reviews on these pages.

Canada’s Juno Awards announces 2008 nominees

No one’s sure why the Great White North named their music award after a city in Alaska, or why last year’s quirky indie movie was named after the award, but the nominees for Canada’s 2008 Juno Awards have been posted.

Band’s of interest to this site include The Arcade Fire, Tegan And Sara, Bedouin Soundclash, Feist, The Saint Alvia Cartel, Neil Young, and some of you might be totally stoked that Michael Buble is up for a nice slew of awards.

Tours: Teenage Bottlerocket / The Copyrights

Teenage Bottlerocket Laramie, Wisconsin’s Teenage Bottlerocket has announced even more tour dates in support of their new full length Warning Device. As previously announced the band will tour in March with Dead To Me and the Femurs. Following those dates they’ll head out with labelmates the Copyrights, touring the US (and one special Canuck town) until mid April. Assorted dates will feature bands like Broadway Calls, the Leftovers and Looker.

Specials’ “Too Much, Too Young” DVD arrives in February

The Specials February 12th will see a DVD release from 2-Tone ska pioneers The Specials. Image Entertainment will release the set, which follows the band from their first tour with The Clash through their breakup. The compilation of clips narration from Tim Lovejoy and was directed by Creem and Crawdaddy contributor Brian Zabawski. Along with videos from the band’s Special AKA era and hits like “Ghost Town” and “A Message to You Rudy,” the disc will feature concert footage from New York rock clubs Hurrah! and Speaks during the band’s 1980 US tour.

Whole Wheat Bread announces new bassist, some album details

Whole Wheat Bread has announced their new bassist, one Will Frazier of Jacksonville, Florida. He will be on the road with the three-piece this March for their previously announced tour with Authority Zero.

Whole Wheat Bread is still working on the follow up to 2006’s Punk Life. The new record is expected this summer. The album has Travis Huff (Armor For Sleep, Yellowcard, Pharcyde) producing and features contributions from Mike McColgan of Street Dogs and rappers Lil Jon and Murs.

Frankie Stubbs of Leatherface: “Doublewhiskeycokenoice” (Dillinger Four)

Frankie Stubbs of Leatherface has posted a cover of Dillinger Four‘s “Doublewhiskeycokenoice.” You can check the song out over at his MySpace page, just look for the track labeled “D4 boat.”

Leatherface last released Dog Disco in 2004, which means it’s been way too damn long since a new record.

Bastards of Young, No Secrets Between Sailors, Orphan Choir

Sacramento, California’s Bastards of Young have released a four song demo titled We’re Alright. You can download it on their MySpace page. The band features former members of Hanover Saints.

California’s Get Stoked Records is set to release the self-titled debut 7” from Portland, Oregon’s No Secrets Between Sailors. The record, mastered by Paul Miner of Death By Stereo, will hit stores on March 1st. The art for the record was done by Gus Bowman of the band Unrestrained. No Secrets Between Sailors features ex-members the Dead Unknown and the Physical Challenge.

Windsor, Ontario folk punk act Orphan Choir have posted new tracks to their myspace from two upcoming 7″s. The first is a split with Unwelcome Guests due out on Salinas by the end of the month. The second is a split with the Amistad on UK labels Document, and Records Or It Didn’t Happen. You can check out all the music via MySpace.
