Punchline leaves Fueled By Ramen

Pittsburgh pop punk act Punchline has left Fueled By Ramen Records. The band announced:

After many years with Fueled By Ramen, it’s time for us to move .. fulfilling the obligations of our contract with FBR, we decided that we wanted to look for a new home. Armed with a new record that’s already recorded we are excited to move forward and on to something fresh. Thanks to the people at FBR that continued to support and help us. It means a lot! One door closes and a new one opens.

The band put out three releases with the label, a reissue of their EP Rewind and the full lengths Action and 37 Everywhere. The band is currently touring Europe with MxPx.

Cancer Bats: Hail Destroyer

Distort Entertainment have made available the title track track off the upcoming sophomore album from Toronto’s Cancer Bats. ‘Hail Destroyer’ can be heard here.

Cancer Bats released Birthing the Giant in 2006 as well as a Split 7″ with This is Hell late last year. They are about to embark on a tour with Comeback Kid, Daggermouth and Crime in Stereo leading up to the release of Hail Destroyer.

Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Among US Top 10 Best-Sellers

We’re excited to see that some four months after its #1 debut in the United States, Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars is still falling up and down the NPD PC Top 10 sales charts. Most recently, ETQW claimed the #7 spot for the week of January 26, besting several competitors that hit the market more recently, including Crysis, Unreal Tournament 3, and The Orange Box. The Phenomenauts: “I Am Robot” / new album in the works

Oakland-based “science-fiction rocket-rollers” the Phenomenauts have posted a video for their song “I Am Robot” from their sophomore album, Re-Entry, released way back in 2004 on Springman Records. UPDATE: Looks like the video’s been pulled. Sorry folks.

The band is currently finishing up their third full-length to be released later this year.

The Weight return wth “Are Men” in March

The WeightBrooklyn alt-country act The Weight are gearing up to releease their first full length in nearly five years this March via The Colonel Records. It follows up 2004’s Sabot released Ten Mile Grace. You can check out the songs “Like Me Better,” “A Day In The Sun,” “Closer Than A Friend,” and “Had It Made” at the band’s MySpace page.

The band is heading down to SXSW this March, touring along the way with hopes of having advance, possibly limited edition, copies of the record with them.
