Tours: Bad Religion (California / Nevada)

Bad Religion have announced even more shows for their March tour of California and Nevada. The band will be playing several-night residences at House of Blues venues in several Californian town as well as Las Vegas.

The veteran band is supporting New Maps of Hell. Recent reports suggested the band may have limited touring plans in the new year due to Academic commitments by vocalist and Life Sciences professor Greg Graffin at UCLA.

Rocket From the Crypt: “Born in `69” / “On a Rope”

Vagrant Records has posted two clips from the upcoming from Rocket From The Crypt DVD / CD combo. You can find footage of “Born in `69” and “On A Rope” below. The package, entitled RIP, hits stores on February 26, 2008 and documents the band’s final show on Halloween 2005. We posted the cover art and track listing for the project earlier.

In other John Reis news we recently previewed three songs from his new band the Night Marchers. The band features Reis along with guitarist Gar Wood (Hot Snakes, Beehive and the Barracudas), drummer Jason Kourkounis (Hot Snakes, Mule, Delta 72), and bassist Tommy Kitsos (CPC Gangbangs). Their debut record See You In Magic and is due out April 22, 2008 via Swami and Vagrant.

The Offspring to headline Download Festival

The Offspring have been named as one of the headliners at the UK’s Download Festival. The band joins a diverse array of major rock bands including Kiss, Welsh nu-metal act Lostprophets, Judas Priest, Motörhead, HIM and Chicago punks Rise Against. The festival takes place on June 13th, 14th and 15th at Donington Park in North West Leicestershire. Many more bands are to be announced soon.

The Offspring have been hard at work on the follow up to 2003’s Splinter.

Alternative Tentacles Signs Triclops!

The long-running Bay area label Alternative Tentacles has signed Triclops! with a release date of March 25th for their debut full length album, Out of Africa. The group features members of Bottles and Skulls, Fleshies, Victims Family, and Lower Forty-Eight. The album was scheduled to be released on Gold Standard labs before that labeled closed its doors last fall

The Eighty Sixed, The Koffin Kats, The Bastard Suns

Saint Paul, Minnesota’s the Eighty Sixed are headed out on a west coast tour soon. The Charged Records act will be performing alongside the Angel City Outcasts on some dates. You can check out dates and song samples via the streetpunk act’s MySpace page.

Michigan psychobilly act the Koffin Kats will embark on their first European tour on February 28th, kicking things off in London with a show alongside the Fighting Cocks. You can find all the dates at MySpace. The band has been working on their new full length Drunk In The Daylight for release this year on Hairball 8 Records.

North Atlanta punk / reggae act The Bastard Suns have a new video online, featuring footage of them performing the song “Alley Cat” this past New Years. You can check it out at YouTube.

Ted from This Bike is a Pipe Bomb riding non-pipebomb in AIDS Lifecycle

Ted from This Bike is a Pipe Bomb (and tending the bar at the Hemlock) is jumping on a bike of the presumably non-pipebomb variety for this year’s AIDS Lifecycle. The event will take Ted and his friend Kristen from San Francisco to LA, raising money to combat AIDS.

The AIDS Lifecycle will take place June 1-7, 2008, as cyclists and volunteers will travel 545 miles through California from San Francisco to Los Angeles. You can find information on the beneficiaries here.

Contests: The Loved Ones/The Gaslight Anthem

The Loved OnesToday, Philadelphia’s The Loved Ones released their sophomore LP, Build & Burn, on Fat Wreck Chords. Later this week, they’ll head out on tour with their neighbors from New Jersey, The Gaslight Anthem. Oh, and The Gaslight Anthem are also putting out a new release. Next week they’ll unveil their new EP, Señor and the Queen; which comes out February 12 on CD and double 7″ courtesy of Sabot Productions.

For the first four dates of the tour, one lucky winner for each stop will win two tickets to the show, and a copy of each of the previously mentioned releases.
