Prosthetic Records has announced the signing of Southern California’s Antagonist. The band will be recording their debut for the label starting March 1st, working with producer Fred Archambault (Avenged Sevenfold, The Confession, Deftones). The album is tentatively set for a summer 2008 release.

The Weakerthans have announced US tour dates in support of their latest record Reunion Tour. The band will be touring with Winnipeg’s Christine Fellows and New Zealand’s Liam Finn in the spring, following an appearance at the ANTI Records showcase at SXSW. .
The band also recently completed a video shoot for the song “Tournament Of Hearts,” as they put it: “A tribute to the old fashioned spirit and salvation of the “game of inches” – curling.”

The full schedule for Mike Park‘s European tour alongside Sundowner (that’s Chris McCaughan of the Lawrence Arms) has been announced. Before heading off to the airport the pairing will play a show in San Francisco alongside Kevin Seconds (of 7Seconds) and Kepi Ghoulie (of Groovie Ghoulies).
Both artists are supporting their most recent full lengths, including Mr. Park’s North Hangook Falling and Sundowner’s Four One Five Two.

Brooklyn, NY’s Nada Surf has made their new album, Lucky, available for streaming in its entirety on their MySpace page. The record is due for release on Feburary 5th via Barsuk Records.

Al Gore chaired peer-to-peer news and information network Current TV recently shot a documentary on the Dropkick Murphys. The short-film takes a “day in the life” approach with the Boston band and incorporates the band’s members discussing their individual histories as well as that of the band. Dischord Records is reporting the sad news that drummer Sean Finnegan of Void passed away on Wednesday January 30th from an apparent heart attack. Sean played with the early hardcore act while the band was active from 1980 to 1983, and was most recently working on the set of HBO show The Wire.
Sean’s family will receive friends today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home in Ellicott City, Maryland. In lieu of flowers his family ask that donations may be made to the Fisher House at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Our deepest condolences to Sean’s friends and family.

Suburban Home Records have announced a new 7″ series entitled “Under the Influence.” The Denver, Colorado label plans to offer a number of 7″ records featuring two bands covering songs that, surprisingly enough, they claim as influential.
The first release in the series will feature both Fake Problems and Look Mexico. Other acts announced include Lucero, Drag the River, Chuck Ragan, Tim Barry and WIlliam Elliott Whitmore

Seattle’s Suicide Squeeze Records has announced a continuation of their limited edition 7″ series. This year’s batch of records will feature 7″ releases from acts such as HEALTH, the Coathangers, School of Seven Bells, Black Moth Super Rainbow and Dave Bazan with more to be announced. The label plans to limit all releases to 2000 copies available via their online store or mom and pop record shops in the US.
In the past Suicide Squeeze has pressed 7″ releases from Modest Mouse, Elliott Smith, the Black Heart Procession, The Melvins, Black Mountain, Of Montreal, the Unicorns, Les Savy Fav and more.

The Warped Tour has announced the bands playing the Smartpunk side stage on the long running tour. Specific lineups will vary by city of course but over the summer the stage will host bands including Set Your Goals, the Higher, the Human Abstract, Alesana, A Day to Remember, August Burns Red, The Maine, Stick to Your guns, Forever the Sickest Kids, the Secret Handshake, Every Avenue, Madina Lake, Just Surrender, Cinematic Sunrise, Automatic Love Letter, Four Year Strong, Bring Me the Horizon, Confide, Sky Eats Airplane, Classic Crime, the Morning Light and Danger Radio.
Also, the tour has announced that they’ve added an August 5th date in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at the Credit Union Centre. This is, in part, a replacement for the Vancouver show, which is missing from the routing as a venue could not be confirmed. The event announced it’s routing last week.

Boston’s Turpentine Brothers will kick off a European tour next week in support of their self-titled sophomore full length. The follow up to 2005’s Alive Records released We Don’t Care About Your Good Times has hit Europe on Alien Snatch! Records, featuring 9 tracks plus two from an aborted 7″ release on Shit Sandwich. There’s no word yet on when the album will see a North American release.
The three piece features members of the Kings of Nuthin’ and Mr Airplane Man.
