Fall Out Boy plans “Beat It” cover for upcoming CD+DVD

Fall Out Boy have announced plans for a new live CD+DVD and DVD release. The record is titled **** and is due out April 08, 2008. Bassist Pete Wentz explained the title:

Before watching ourselves on film we never really realized how much we swear. “It’s pretty gross … though it’s edited as to not hurt your little munchkin ears. And as for how to say the name, well any little four letter word will work.”

The live set was recorded on June 22, 2007, at Phoenix’s Cricket Pavilion. Besides the band’s own material, the disc will include a number of covers, such as Akon’s “Don’t Matter,” Timbaland’s “One and Only” and Panic At The Disco’s “I Write Sins, Not Tragedies.” The “Beat It” cover will be recorded in the studio as a bonus for the live release.

Members of Dillinger Four, Quincy Punx record podcast about West Memphis Three

Billy Morrisette of Dillinger Four and Mike Robertson of Quincy Punx recently recorded a podcast discussing the West Memphis 3.

he West Memphis 3 are three men tried and convicted for the murders of three children in the Robin Hood Hills area of West Memphis, Arkansas, United States in 1993. Damien Echols – the alleged ringleader – was sentenced to death. Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin were sentenced to life in prison. Many believe the arrests and convictions were a miscarriage of justice and that the defendants were wrongfully convicted during a period of intense media scrutiny and so-called “Satanic panic”.

Among the topics are plans for an upcoming benefit CD featuring cover tracks of originals from Quincy Punx. All proceeds from the sale of this future double record will be donated to the defense fund for the West Memphis Three.
