Foxboro Hot Tubs (Green Day) to release physical album in April

Foxboro Hot Tubs, the 50s-style garage band made up (alledgedly) by members of Green Day have a release date for a physical copy of their previously downloadable debut album, Stop Drop And Roll. The record is set for release on April 29, 2008.

The band seems to be following the trajectory of previous “secret” Green Day side project, The Network, which first released their album independently before being “upstreamed” to Green Day’s major label home. Though no details have been made available about the record itself, it looks to be priced as a full length despite the band’s free release being only a six-song EP.

You can still stream three songs from the EP on their myspace page.

Paramore address break up, pregnancy rumours

After revealing very little in a post addressing their recent tour cancellation, popular act Paramore have directly addressed the wealth of rumours which sprang from the incident. In an MTV interview, the band explained:

We’ve been posting blogs to our LiveJournal and talking to our fans that way for years now, and it’s always been something that’s been really fun for us. But now it’s crazy, because I’ll post something, and it’s all over the place. It’s really funny how things have escalated, and how people make a huge deal out of the tiniest things. We were coming home, we canceled a week of shows, and then the next thing you know, I’m pregnant.

We tried to be as honest as we could with it, without giving our life stories, and it definitely did come back to bite us, but in the end, it was the best thing for us to do, to communicate with our fans that we needed time. We needed time to come home and catch our breath. It’s been a long year, ever since Riot! came out, it’s just been nonstop. And that’s not to say that it hasn’t also been the time of our lives, but there comes a time when you really have to do something for yourself for once. And that’s what we had to do. We didn’t like canceling shows, but that’s what it took; to go home and kind of start over again.

You can find the rest of the interview here.

This week’s most popular stories

Nine Inch Nails recent self-distributed and freely available release has been a resounding success, netting more than $1.5 million for the band and making quite the case for their label-free venture. Probably less successful will be the self-destructing “free record” coming from Iron Maiden. Black Flag‘s Henry Rollins spoke out on a number of issues this week, talking upcoming books, specials, the election. The Star Fucking Hipsters, featuring Sturgeon of Leftover Crack, has been recording with Fat Mike of NOFX. Richmond up and comers the Riot Before are now less a guitarist.

The Methadones and Copyrights will launch their new label project with a split full length. Weezer will return from the wilderness with a June release. Goldfinger detailed their upcoming Hello Destiny with cover art that plays the nostalgia card for old fans. On the streaming front we had a live set from Berlin featuring the Weakerthans, a new song from Anti-Flag (“Spit in the Face”), Pennywise‘s “The Western World” and two live cuts from Good Riddance. Minus The Bear launched a video this week for the song “Throwin’ Shapes.” Pop-punk act Mest are returning for a one-off show in April. River City Rebels post new songs, lineup changes

The River City Rebels have finished recording their sixth full length, due out this summer on Springman Records imprint Silver Sprocket. The album is currently untitled. A 70 page booklet of journals written by organ player Brandon Rainer will accompany the release.

Two tracks from the full length, “Little Bit Longer” and “Hey Sweet Thing” are now streaming online at the band’s MySpace page.

The group has also shuffled their lineup in recent weeks. Following the completion of the record bassist Tascar Wise and drummer Kevin both quit the band. The group is looking for replacements but in the meantime giutarist Chris Macie is covering drums and vocalist Dan O’Day’s brother Josh is playing bass. Dan now both singing and playing guitar.
