Updates from Gracer

Gracer have posted an update covering a recent lineup change, as well as plans for a forthcoming full length:

Some of you may already know, but Gracer is now two musicians. What ever will we do now, you ask? Well for our upcoming record it’s an opportunity for me and Paul to get back to our first loves, the drums and bass, respectively. Before Gracer, i drummed and sang in a space rock band, and Paul used to play bass in his old band. Its really fun for us to be taking on additional roles in this band for the time being.

We’re also really excited to show you the progress so far. We’re in the process of revamping the site and adding some new video updates from the recording sessions. Also we may add a preview clip in the coming days, aaanndd we may or may not be playing a “show” soon, whhhiiccchh may or may not be recorded/filmed. We’re really proud of all the new songs, its the most fun we’ve had making music in quite a while.

The band issued Voices Travel in 2006.

Joey Ramone 7th Memorial Anniversary

Joey Ramone Today marks the seventh anniversary of Ramones frontman Joey Ramone. Joey passed away from complications due to Lymphoma on April 15th, 2001 after fighting the disease for four years.

On November 30, 2003, a block of East 2nd Street in New York City was officially renamed Joey Ramone Place. It is the block where Hyman once lived with bandmate Dee Dee Ramone, and is near the music club CBGB, where the Ramones got their start. Hyman’s birthday is celebrated annually by rock ‘n’ roll nightclubs, hosted in New York City by his brother and, until recently, his mother. Joey was buried in Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst, New Jersey.

Did RATM, Black Flag, Television, SDRE, Taking Back Sunday peak with their debuts?

The Onion’s serious media companion, The AV Club has put together an interesting list of artists who never managed to top the acclaim and influence of their debut albums. Leading the list is Rage Against the Machine who single-handedly made rap/hardcore into a genre. The list makes some interesting assessments with a few classic CBGB acts in the list like Richard Hell and The Voidoids, Television as well as some controversial choices like naming Black Flag‘s Damaged.

More recent, but less controversial choices include The Strokes, Sunny Day Real Estate and Taking Back Sunday.

You can check out the full list here.
