Weezer cover is “Not a Joke”

After their upcoming album’s bizarre album cover surfaced last week, many have speculated if the strange artwork is some sort of elaborate hoax.

According to a report from MTV, it’s not a joke and the album cover with its “suburban cowboy” imagery is actually real. The band’s publicist explained:

Yes, that’s absolutely the cover, t’s what they chose. They looked at a bunch of mockups, and that’s the one they decided to go with. It’s not a joke.

Richie Ramone loses lawsuit against estate of Joey Ramone, Apple

Former Ramones drummer Richard “Richie Ramone” Reinhardt has lost the lawsuit he filed last September. The suit named estate of Johnny Ramone, Apple itunes, Wal-Mart, Real Rhapsody and others for the digital use of the six songs he wrote while a Ramone.

The suit hinged on whether Richie had relinquished digital rights when he signed his contract with the band. U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin said in a ruling Friday that the contract clearly covered digital uses of his songs. She noted that the contract defining phonograph records contained the words “now or hereafter known” when referring to forms of reproduction, making it clear that future technologies are covered by the agreement.

Reinhardt’s six songs for the Ramones were “Smash You,” “Somebody Put Something in My Drink,” “Human Kind,” “I’m Not Jesus,” “I Know Better Now” and “(You) Can’t Say Something Nice.”

Anti-Flag holds Tour Tournament

Anti-Flag has kicked off a “tour tournament” in the hopes of finding a tour mate for a future trek. The band has taken nominations from fans and put them into a chart with the hopes that the list will be whittled down by a series of match ups.

Currently, the contest is in the initial phase, with Rise Against vs. Lagwagon, Casualties vs Sum 41, Streetlight Manifesto vs AFI, Against Me! vs. Lawrence Arms and many others.

To vote, you can visit Peacepunk.

Update: We’ve received word from sources close to the band that this is not a band-sponsored contest, but one assembled by fans on peacepunk. The band is helping to spread word about the contest, but is not behind it.
