Tours: Landmines announce summer tour, release details for debut LP

Richmond, VA melodic hardcore outfit Landmines will be hitting the road this summer in support of their forthcoming debut LP for Paper and Plastick Records. The digital download version of the release will be available May 15th at the Paper and Plastick website, and download cards will also be sold by the band on the road. The vinyl version is expected at the end of June. The record was recorded last year with Brian McTernan (Hot Water Music, Strike Anywhere, Bane).

Jesse Michaels (Operation Ivy, Common Rider) to do solo tour

Jesse Michaels (Operation Ivy, Common Rider) has announced him plans to do a solo tour in support of a dozen and a half songs that he is currently in the process of writing. Although no dates have been finalized yet, they will be starting in the month of August kicking off in Los Angeles.

Jesse’s only recorded solo work is the song “Bell Tower” off of the Experiments In Audio Rocketry compilation that came out in 2003 on 1-2-3-4 Go! Records.

Hot Water Music to play Philadelphia, New York City

Hot Water MusicGainesville, FL natives and Punknews reader favorites Hot Water Music will be playing The Troc in Philadelphia on Friday, July 11th, and then headed to New York City for a July 12th show at Terminal 5

The group’s last full length was 2004s The New What Next, while their retrospective Till The Wheels Fall Off released this year compiled many covers, outtakes, B-sides, and other assorted rarities.

Elliott Brood to release “Mountain Meadows” this summer

Alt-country three piece Elliott Brood will release their new record Mountain Meadows in Canada and Europe on June 24th via Six Shooter Records. A US date is to be announced. The record, which follows up 2005’s Ambassador, will feature the new track “Miss You Now.” That tune can be streamed via the group’s MySpace page.

The band has announced the first in a series of CD release shows, June 20th at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. A fall national tour of Canada and shows in Europe are planned to support the record. In the meantime the group will appear at a number of festivals, including Calgary’s Sled Island, Ottawa’s Blues Festival, the Vancouver Island Music Festival, Folk On The Rock in Yellowknife, NWT, and Guelph’s Hillside Music Festival.

Escape the Fate recruits Craig Mabbit (ex-Blessthefall)

According to a buzznet report, Escape the Fate has recruited a new vocalist to fill the vacancy left by Ronnie Radke.

The followup to Dying Is Your Latest Fashion will find Craig Mabbit, formerly of Blessthefall, taking vocal duties. The band will be working with producer/songwriter John Feldmann (The Used, Story of the Year).

American Steel, Bayide to support Alkaline Trio

American Steel and Bayside have been tapped to support Alkaline Trio ontheir upcoming headlining tour. Bayside will open the tour and American Steel will join the trek on July 8th and provide support until the tour wraps up on August 3rd.

Bayside will be reissuing The Walking Wounded on July 22, 2008. American Steel reunited after several years off. They released Destroy Their Future last year. Alkaline Trio is gearing up for the release of their major label debut. The record is titled Agony and Irony and is due out July 01, 2008.

The Offspring, Bad Religion and Pennywise playing KROQ Weanie Roast 2008

Long running Los Angeles-based radio station KROQa has announced the lineup for their upcoming 2008 Weenie Roast. The long-running event will feature a number of favorites including Metallica, The Offspring, The Raconteurs, Rise Against, Bad Religion, Pennywise, The Bravery, Flogging Molly, Atreyu, and more.

The event takes place at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine California on May 17th. The full lineup can be found here.

The Coma Recovery: “Hearts of Man”

The Coma Recovery has posted a new song, “Hearts of Man,” from their upcoming EP, Man Ascend. The disc is slated for release via Failed Experiment Records, though it seems the band is currently unsigned. According to a MySpace blog posting, it will be out in July or August.

Man Ascend will be the band’s first new material since 2006’s zine-acclaimed Drown That Holy End in Wine, which garnered spots on two year-end Top 20 lists.

Since the album’s release, the band has gone through a major lineup overhaul, losing three old members and gaining two new ones.

Underground Operations has signed Toronto’s Kathleen Turner Overdrive and will release the band’s full length Marauders! Wolves! Scavengers! Party! on June 3rd. You can check out some music on the band’s MySpace page.

Note this is not the Georgia-based pop-punk band, Toronto-based the improv comedy troupe, UK-based cover band, or the fictional band from High Fidelity which all share the name.
