The Living End: “How Do We Know”

The Living End have posted a stream as well as a free download of their new track “How Do We Know.” The song comes from their upcoming album, White Noise which is due out July 19, 2008 in Australia.

Frontman Chris Cheney commented:

[We] thought it would be cool to connect with people quicker – without all the lead up time and let people hear something immediately I know what it’s like to wait around for a record to come out and it sucks! Fear not, it’s almost done, and in the mean time check this out. By the way, it’s not the single, it’s more like an entree.

You can find the free download, courtesy of Triple J Radio, right here. A streaming version can be found on their myspace page.

Big Drill Car announce reunion show

80s and 90s-era pop-punk outfit Big Drill Car have announced an apparently one-off reunion set to take place at Fitzgerald’s Pub in Huntington Beach, CA on August 13th.

Bassist Bob Thomson made the announcement:

Bob from BDC here, and I am extremely happy to tell you, if you don’t already know, we will be playing a show at Fitzgerald’s in Huntington Beach on August the 13th. this is a warm up show for a couple other things to follow, this show being the most intimate in my opinion. Can’t tell how stoked I am that this is actually happening, in fact we all seem to be pretty stoked to rock again.

As the presence of Thomson indicates, the show will feature the band’s original 1987-1992 lineup. Tickets can be purchased here.

Big Drill Car released an EP, Small Block, in 1988 before being signed to Cruz Records (owned by former Black Flag guitarist Greg Ginn) and releasing two studio albums. The band eventually parted ways with that label and signed to Headhunter Records, who released No Worse for the Wear, the band’s final album.

Jello Biafra responds to Michael Savage

The Boston Phoenix has an exclusive story on Jello biafra’s response to radio pundit Michael Savage’s recent rant about Ted Kennedy which made extensive use of “California Uber Alles” by Bifra’s former band, Dead Kennedys Quoth Jello:

“I haven’t read the details yet, but I’m aware of what Michael Savage did. Obviously he took my song way the hell out of context and did it deliberately. But the bigger issue is Savage himself and how the hell he gets away with stuff like saying this, and saying that people with AIDS should be put in concentration camps. And then when people protest at the station, he calls on his own listeners to come down and beat them up . . . .”

Anchors For Arms talk next record

Anchors For Arms have posted an update on the progress towards their upcoming Lobster release, Remember Why You Came This Far:

We just wanted to let you all know we are in fact still alive. With the current state of our economy, things are changing. Bands like us can’t afford to tour as much as we used to. What is real disheartening is that its only going to get worse before it gets better. We have been spending this down time working on our new record which is near completion. We’re stoked. We’ve spent the last few weeks demoing and will continue to do so before we head into Nada Studios with John Naclerio.

As of now, the record is slated to be released under Lobster Records but both parties are putting maximum effort to do otherwise. Interested?

The band released Listen. React last year.
