The Methadones, Copyrights release songs from split CD, plan record release show

Chicago, IL’s The Methadones and The Copyrights have have set up a MySpace page for their new record label Transparent Records and have posted two songs from each band from their upcoming split CD.

Transparent records is a brand new label set up by both Dan Schafer of the Methadones and Adam Fletcher of the Copyrights. Their first release will be the split CD from both bands, available in July.

Both the Methadones and the Copyrights are having a record release show for the split CD at the brand new Bottom Lounge in Chicago on Friday July 25th (ages 18 and over) with the Chinese Telephones and The Tattle Tales as opening acts. For more infomation head to MPShows.com.

Various: “Think Fast! Sampler”

Think Fast Records Today we’re psyched to offer the digital version of the inaugural sampler from hardcore label, Think Fast! Records.. The sampler features a brand new song from Smartbomb (“Blood And Sand” from the upcoming debut full length due September 16th), a brand new song from No Harm Done (“I Decline” from the upcoming debut full length due August 19th), as well as ten other tracks from upcoming and past releases from the likes of Only Crime, Outbreak, Hour Of The Wolf, Ignite, Sick Of It All, and more.

Afro-punk 2008 set for July 5th – 13th in Brooklyn

The 2008 Afro-Punk Festival has been announced. The event will take place July 5th -July 13th, 2008 in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. The festival is the definitive destination for the global Afro-Punk community and audiences yearning to experience true AP culture. Last year 30,000 people attended the festvial, and this year is expected to be even bigger, featuring 40 bands, 15 films being screened, a visual art exhibit and a skate park featuring 30 pro BMX riders/skaters.

The festival focuses on giving a voice to thousands of multi-cultural kids fiercely identifying with a lifestyle path-less-traveled and to show that the rock/punk/hardcore scene had powerful appeal beyond the predictable Caucasian audience. The movement is compared to the early days of Hip-Hop.
