Grabass Charlestons post six new songs

Grabass Charlestons Grabass Charlestons have posted six new songs on their myspace page. The band explained the origins of each:

The first three we finished a few months ago and will be released as a Razorcake Sister Series 7″ with The Arrivals. Should come out just as soon as The Arrivals finish their recording. The other three we finished a little under a year ago and will be released on Barracuda Sound very very soon. We are just waiting for them to show up in the mail.

Though the band is streaming three songs from each seven inch, a fourth song is exclusive to both vinyl versions so you’ll need the actual seven-inch to hear them. You can find the six on their myspace page.

The band’s last full length was 2005’s Ask Mark Twain.

L.A. Times interview with Dexter Holland

The LA Times has a lengthy interview with Dexter Holland of The Offspring.

The piece discusses Holland’s hobbies which include three planes, a hot sauce factory and developing BlackBerry software as well as talking about Green Day‘s American Idiot. Both the Offspring and Green Day hit almost simultaneously a decade ago, so the article suggests that the Offspring need to deliver a “Sgt.Pepper” rebuttal to Green Day’s Pet Sounds.

You can check out the interview here.

Fake Problems recording with AJ Mogis

Fake Problems have posted an update from the studio as they work on the follow up to their full length debut, How Far Our Bodies Go:

We’ve been in Omaha, Nebraska for the past two weeks recording our next full-length @ ARC Studios. AJ Mogis (Cursive, The Faint, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Bright Eyes, The Good Life) is manning production duties and he is a freaking genius.

This past week we tracked a 6-piece horn section, flute, violins, cellos and GANG VOCALS. When we’re not recording, we’re watching 30 Rock (live every week like it’s shark week). We’re still hammering out the details of a release date, but we’ll keep you posted

Earlier this year, the band released the Viking Wizard Eyes Wizard Full of Lies 7-inch.

Rise Against post another update on new album

Rise Against has posted an update on the continued progress towards their next full length:

We arrived in Fort Collins and immediately got to work on the songs, and in fact, ending up writing a a whole bunch more of them in the first couple weeks. Bill and Jason helped coax the rock out us and, when we were’t trying to cover Motorhead songs, we actually got a lot done. Once we finished the structure of songs, Brandon got to work on the drums while the rest of us entertained ourselves around town.

A Wilhelm Scream even rolled through town on their recent tour and we were all able to take a minute out of our schedules to enjoy a BBQ over at Bill’s house, at which point many trampoline antics ensued

uitars and bass started shortly after, and so far are going great. They sound bigger and better than anything we’ve done yet and everyone has been really impressed. We’re experimenting with a lot of sounds and attempting to tastefully implement them in our songs, so far, so good…

We took the weekend off to play the Weenie Roast with Metallica, Offspring and our friends in Bad Religion, Pennywise and Flogging Molly. The show was incredible, definitely the best radio show we’ve ever been a part of, thanks to our fans who made the trip…

The band does not have an official release date or title for the album, but it is expected to drop in late 2008/early 2009. Produced by Bill Stevenson (of Black Flag, Descendents and ALL fame), the album is the follow-up to their 2006 album The Sufferer & the Witness. The new album will also be their first release with current guitarist Zach Blair, who replaced Chris Chasse on tour last year.
