A visual history of Sub Pop Records

Blender Magazine has put together a slideshow looking back at the early years of pioneering punk/metal label Sub Pop. Though in recent years, the label has become known for a string of indie rock hits, the label’s early days were almost exclusively led by metal and noise-influenced punk acts like Nirvana, Mudhoney and many others.

The label was a major theme in books like Our Band Could Be Your Life and American Hardcore and the history of the label is shown through press photos, magazines and posters in the photos here.

The slide show comes on the eve of the upcoming Sub Pop SP20 festival in July which celebrates the label’s 20th anniversary.
